General comments: I’m new with EQ and this bank I must say is full of glitches, most frustrating. I encountered many errors on their bank web site, namely: Unable to add a contact for e-transfer (had to call to find a work around) Unable to find a payee (payee data is in English only, how can I find «La societe de l’assurance automobile» or SAAQ ???) Unable to auto link externally with Alterna bank, had to phone and have it done manually Fax number within Canada does not work Discrepancy of amount total on main page was fixed (for now). Unable to copy referral code for friend (error). My first impression: EQ is a wannabe bank. A real bank would not allow so many errors and glitches.

What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: Broader range of services, but perhaps that would eat into the current benefits.
General comments: We've been with them a few years now. Over the course of being a customer they've continued to improve the website and app. We've seen things go from “annoying” to "working well." If your needs fit within the narrowest version of what they offer, you'll be fine. Don't expect the services of larger institution. Overall, I've grown to be reasonably happy with the online experience of using EQ, despite some serious misgivings after we first joined.

General comments: DO NOT BANK WITH EQ, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE HACKED AND YOUR MONEY STOLEN. On March 26/21 $40,000 was taken out of my account and transferred out TD Unlimited. I got a notification that a $12,900 transferred did not go through and that's when I saw my money taken out. I contacted EQ immediately and my account was frozen, till they could find out what happened. While my account was frozen another $20,000 was taken out. I phoned again and they said it was an internal transfer and they could do nothing about it, So now I am out $60,000. I was told my computer got hacked as well as my Telus account and that's how they took out the money. I had my computer checked out by a computer company and they told me there was no way my computer got hacked. I contacted Telus, they told me my account was not hacked. I tried contacting EQ security to tell them the information, left multiple message and never heard back from them for 9 day. I did have a few sleepless night. Finally they contacted me and they insisted my computer got hacked, even after it was all checked out. I told them perhaps the bank got hack. Oh NO, we as secure and it is my fault. The end result was I did get my money back and they told me to make sure my computer is save and if it happens again my money will not be covered. I asked them about the investigation and they would not tell me anything, other than my computer got hacked. So I took all of my money out and went to a REAL BANK. The customer service and the security at EQ is a joke, Don't bank there.

What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: Website and mobile app that work properly and don't have such frequent technical issues or complete outages. What good is an online bank with no way to connect with them online? Moved and can't change my address. Can't do an e-transfer out. Online chat attendant says to clear browser cookies. Now can't even log in online or on mobile app. Certainly not the first time I've had issues.
General comments: Looks like people have been complaining about their IT issues for years. Decided to move my money out and consider bringing it back if they ever get their you-know-what together.

General comments: Two days ago I was sent an INTERAC e-transfer which I attempted to deposit at EQ Bank. The transfer failed, for no reason anyone at EQ can tell me. They told me to try again in 24 hours – I waited 48 to be safe, and just tried again, and it still won't work. Almost $4000! I contacted the party that sent it and asked them cancel the transfer, and they said their notice indicated I failed to enter the correct code (I did not), and also the system would not let them cancel. I tried to deposit it into another bank, and that was denied. So now $4000 of my money is in limbo, and I am on hold with EQ, waiting to talk to someone, anyone. 27 minutes so far on hold. What a garbage bank – what good is interest if they LOSE YOUR MONEY? Anyone have any ideas of what to do next? Customer Care is useless – they have no idea what's going on.

What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: chequing account with quicker access to cash
General comments: Good so far. Only painful experience I had initially was the way the text message was used to authenticate during web access. I never save cookies of my browser and it was pain that with every login, every menu options, I had to enter the OTP/secure code send to mobile phone, even within the same sessions. I out right hate when text is the "only" way for security. To me that is the most lazy and inconvenient way of handling security because of the fact that I might still be in the world where I can be accessing the online banking with internet and no phone signal to receive text at the same time. So when I mentioned this to the customer care they said that is how the website is designed and there is no alternative. But what they themselves do not know was, that option can be turned off to secure questions. I myself had to figure this out. Apart from this unpleasant experience, over all smooth and worry free banking so far.

General comments: I opened EQ Bank account hoping to purchase their 3month 3% GIC - for starters. Opened account and transferred funds on July 15 2019. Funds were not available until July 23 2019. As soon as funds got available attempted to buy GIC's - system does not allow me to do it citing 'technical difficulties'. So the promised 3% rate is diluted by 8 days delay from start. Would be moving funds back we'll see how this works.

What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: Still no joint accounts after 3 years. They apparently have no intention of adding this.
General comments: I waited for 3 years for joint accounts and finally gave up and withdrew all my money. I left the account open with a zero balance. I cannot in good conscience have money in an account in my name only. I don't understand why they cannot add the joint account feature but they lost me as a customer because of it.

What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: The sign up process was a nightmare. It took almost 1 year as I would give up trying to set it up.
General comments: As long as they keep up a decent interest rate, absolutely fine with me. It is not my main bank. I only put cash in a savings account for emergency situation. I still use the main big banks for the important stuff. Not sure if I would ever go above the CDIC insurance limit just in case they fold or encountered issues like we saw at Oaken.

How long have you banked with them?: 5 months
Why do you bank with them?: Initially interest rate.
What do you like about this bank / credit union?: I like the interest rate but I also like the ease of use. I have my main account (linked to an outside bank) and then 4 sub accounts. Bill payments, e-transfers and transfers to other EQ customers can be done directly from the sub accounts. It my regular bank (that pays basically no interest) if I want to pay for something from one of my savings accounts I have to transfer the funds to my chequing account and then pay the bill from there. It's just an extra unnecessary step. If I paid out of my savings account it would cost $5 per transaction. I use EQ as my main bank account and transfer money weekly to my brick and mortar bank for debit spending
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: There are 4 free e-transfers per month -more would be better. My brick and mortar bank charges me $15.95 and only gives me 2 "free" e-transfers.
General comments: I love EQ - I've had a couple of questions and have had them answered online pretty much immediately.

General comments: I had only a small problem on opening an account and called customer service. The representative was polite and knowledgeable and gave me an immediate answer. I made one additional transfer that went without a hitch. Having worked in IT I realize that system bugs cannot be fixed immediately on demand. It seems that their systems have improved over the last year.

Why do you bank with them?: Attracted by their hi interest rate of 2.30%, 5 free e-transfers, easy to transfer money in and out of the account.
What do you like about this bank / credit union?: Mostly the high interest rate. It was simple enough to create an account, then only had to wait 1 business day before they deposited a few pennies in my linked account, and I used that amount to verify my EQ account. The bank is also compatible with Mint for budgeting.
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: The app is a little on the slow side. I can't rate their customer phone, email or online chat features as I haven't had to use it.

General comments: The technology seems better suited for 1995. Created an account and completed the verification process, and after my first transfer of funds it locked me out of my account. The guy who answers the phone (calling them customer service would be a disservice to those actually in the business) could not explain why my account was locked. Spent more time on the phone unlocking my account than I had invested in doing business with them at that point. The reason why I prefer online tools is to avoid spending time on the phone with dotards. Way too many solid online options to have to bother with EQs nonsense. Needless to say - account closed.

What do you like about this bank / credit union?: interest rate
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: Better customer service, better online application process
General comments: I tried signing up for an account, i received a message saying they were not able to validate my personal information, i should contact transunion. i called customer service and was told rudely that i could not have possibly seen that page and i should try again and call back if i received the same message. i was talked down to at every turn with this customer service rep. fast foward 35 minutes later after trying to apply again i received the same message, the customer service rep was worse than the first, she was rude and totally contradicted what the first customer service rep said. she kept talking and would not listen for the info i was trying to give her, i unfortunately had to abruptly end our conversation. i am totally turned off by poor customer service especially at the beginning stage. i would not want to encounter future problem when i am already all in

Why do you bank with them?: I don't anymore
What do you like about this bank / credit union?: Nothing
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: I've been attempting for 2 weeks to open an account. First, their app doesn't work, so you can't submit a cheque. I managed to create a login, and receive their two verification deposits. I emailed them a bank statement as they asked for an ID/statement to verify my account. After a week a heard nothing and tried to log back in. It asked me to re-confirm that I had submitted a verification document. It then didn't let me proceed beyond that step. I wouldn't trust these guys with my money.

What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: App
General comments: App sucks. For a digital bank you would think that their app would be good . 80% of the time when u do call in they don't do much. It is annoying But since it's obviously not the agents fault. They don't control things like that. To recap HIRE A GOOD DEVELOPMENT TEAM FOR YOUR APP.

Why do you bank with them?: Best interest rate
What do you like about this bank / credit union?: Interest rate. Quick transaction.
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: Interface. They have an ability to pay bills but i don't know why.
General comments: Generally good. The reduction of their interest rate from 3% to 2% was a annoying but it still is the best interest rate out there. Money transfers (both ways) fairly quickly.

Why do you bank with them?: Becasue of higher interest rate 3% non-promo, which was a marketing technique, now 2.25%
What do you like about this bank / credit union?: Nothing i like , except all problems and limitations to do banking. You need iphone 5 or higher only, they don't support any other iOS devices like ipod, ipad. You must have internet access to do telephone banking as they send a code, if you are on vacation, camping, YOU MUST HAVE EMAIL ACCESS, OTHERWISE, NO TELEPHONE BANKING WITH EQ. YOU ARE STUCK. No other form of verification is there. The mobile app not working for cheque deposites, they say upgrade the iphone to latest (spending another $600-700 for new iphone) no way
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: you may get stuck with your money, as they like you to send cheques by canada post
General comments: any complaint to top management ignores and hardly any response, use your wisdom before you open for just 2.25%. this is not for someone who doesn't have latest iphone with data, and internet access to do even telephone banking. All other banks like pcf, tangerine doesn't need any of these, right now tangerine giving 3.25% promo for selected customers and also new customers 2.4% for 6 months with $50 referral bonus

How long have you banked with them?: Never got as far as banking
Why do you bank with them?: I was attracted by their high interest rates
What do you like about this bank / credit union?: Their IT system is completely unreliable. I would not trust them to reliably keep my hard-earned money safely.
What could be improved about this bank / credit union?: An IT system that works
General comments: Frist, I had to apply for the privilege of eventually opening up an account. (That alone should have been a red flag that this "financial institution" is an iffy proposition). When I finally got an "invitation" to open an account, I filled out the online form. I got side tracked during the process, and the registration process timed out. When i tried to log into my account to continue with the process, I got a message saying they were experiencing problems with their system, and to try again later. I did. Multiple times. Finally I called customer service who explained that the time-out problem was a "known issue" (if it's a known issue, they should fix it!!!). The agent told me she would as the "systems people" to reset my account, but that they only work 9 to 5 and it takes them two hours to do that, so I should try the next day after noon, which I did. Same issue. Called again, and was told they had not yet reset my account, and to try later in the day, which I did. Same error message again. So, I sent an email to customer service telling them to cancel my account. I got an email the next morning saying my account had been reset, and I should try again. (Why does it take a customer to threaten to take their business elsewhere to get IT to do their job?). To complete the registration, I had to take a picture of a check with my cell phone, which I did. I photographed the front side of the check. The app told me it was OK. Then I photographed the back of the check. The app told me it was OK. Then when I pressed "send" the app told me the photo wasn't right, and to take it again, which I did. When that was done, the app told me that this check had already been processed, and that I should use a different one. At that point, it became crystal clear that this financial institution is held together with bale wire and that I need to take my business to a more established and reputable outfit.
