YES. There are ownership issues. Microsoft for one, in the fine print. Our cloud service is ours, you are using it. We have the right to monitor whatever you post.

We, as users, might not like prying eyes of strangers, but there could be legal implications (liability?) involved for cloud services providers.

RetirEd: Thank you very much!

I started my Linux education and that will take some time.

So far I downloaded Puppy Linux and SliTaz, have ISO files for CD/DVD and now I'm trying to figure out how to create similar ISO files for USB instead of CD/DVD. They have SliTaz on floppy disks, but not on USB.

Thank you!
I had so much fun with floppies in the 20th century, so would really prefer not to see and touch them ever again.

Here's a way. Linux Mint (Mate edition) https://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=276 has a program called USB Image Writer that creates a bootable USB stick by copying image(ISO) files to the USB drive. Download Mint ISO from link above (either 32 or 64 bit) and create a DVD image disk and then run Mint from the disc and use the USB Image Writer program to create a bootable USB image. Your hardware may be too old to run Mint smoothly for regular use but you should be able to run it from disc to create USB stick. Also make sure your sytem is 64bit otherwise download 32 bit version

I think once you install Linux, you will lose Windows unless you partition the drive. Yes?

Coin, during the install it will ask you if you want to keep Windows. It will set it up as you wish.

Didn't know that. I rely on my friend to partition the drive.

The install process is mostly automatic with many flavours of linux(buntus, mint, mxlinux, manjaro ...). This includes dual booting with windows. All you need to do is answer a few questions.
Customized partitions is the best scenerio but creates other challenges.
