Thanks everyone. Any more info is appreciated.
Your comments = more knowledge and ideas for me. Perhaps I should reconsider the monitor with speakers, cam and mic.

I went to London Drugs and got a tad of information and more from Staples. Both young guys .... hoping they were gamers that knew their monitors!

A paid for extended warranty that gives only a discount on repairs is crap.

Its all about how much they charge for the extended warranty. If you want any repairs to be 100% covered, they can simply charge for more for the extended warranty up front. Then of course you will complain extened warranty cost too much....
Similar to a car insurance where the deductible exists, just to keep rates somewhat reasonable (if one chooses a higher deductible) and reduce abuse of the warranty.

In regards to CRAP Apple Care plus. I bought a new iPad a few days ago at the Apple Store. Apple was giving gift certificates for $70 for purchase of iPad and $140 for Mac mini ( <= I had to buy online vs driving an hour or more to find a store that was in stock).

The sales person was unexperienced and fresh out of training class. I bought the iPad and she slyly tried to slide in Apple care. I stopped the process and had her repeat to me what I was buying. Response was, iPad and Apple care. I clarified, no, just the iPad. So…crap…..no mention of price for Apple care and no mention of coverage. THAT’S BAD! And it might be ageism as well. So then when all is done I was asked if would like to use the $70 towards an Apple pen or an over priced case. No, thanks! I went home a bought the case that has been good for us off of eBay for $20 and some screen protectors made from glass. The $140 plus $70 pays for the better part of 8 air tags for the grandkids for Christmas.

The bolded part is annoying and crap. I can imagine this being done and not noticed right away …. an unwanted maintenance program and charge … and that may impact on return business.

And Apple's traditional policy of no discounts or price cuts - only incentives to spend MORE on Apple products!
