AirMiles has a new bonus deal, called "Shop the Block". https://shoptheblock.ca/en/home/For this one, you have to make up to 7 specified purchases, but you can get up to 2,000 bonus AirMiles as well as individual bonuses on particular items. This can be done, at least by me, by spending only about $30 that I didn't otherwise need to spend. A great deal if I can actually get it. …
Air Miles has started issuing the bonus miles for last year's "Shop The Block" promotion. I saw my bonus miles credited to my account.

It is not clear why some accounts identify SOBEYS and some identify AIR MILES BONUS, but does it really matter?
It doesn't particularly matter, but I have observed that Norman1 likes to know precisely how everything works. This makes him very useful to the rest f us when there is something we don't understand.
You never know when this information might prove to be useful later..

Also, such details can reveal what happens behind the scenes.
The difference could be just a glitch in the AIR MILES web site. It could also be a glimpse into how those bonus miles issued are paid for by the participating retailers.
2,000 bonus miles is not an insignificant amount. At 95 miles for $10, that's about $210 for the collector. AIR MILES charges more than that to the retailers.
Don't know what retailers pay for miles. But, collectors are currently charged 30¢ per mile or $28.50 per 95 miles.
Some of the participating retailers accept 95 miles as $10. Instead of buying miles at a markup with cash, perhaps such retailers had the option to just reissue the miles that they accepted.
Maybe Loonie's miles did actually come from Sobeys, who just reissued miles they accepted. Mine may be ones purchased by other retailers for cash.

I went back through the STB transactions. Spouse and I had fairly similar transactions, including Sobeys. The one who made 4 product purchases, no cash redeem offer, had SOBEYS in the description, the other who made 2 product purchases, and the cash redeem offers at Sobeys and Foodland, had AIR MILES BONUS.

I initially rec'd 1000 Air Miles (Sobeys), but should have rec'd 2000 as I fulfilled 7 offers.
Using AM Livechat, I was able to show my 7 offers, and rec'd my 2nd 1000 Air Miles...happy, happy; little hassle at all.
I view this STB promotion as a scavenger hunt, chasing down the offers that provide the biggest bang for the fewest bucks. I now have the equivalent of $210 (cash Air Miles), having spent money on items I would have bought anyhow, a very nice return on my 'investment'.

I have now thrown out the receipts and details of the promo, but I know I used several Sobeys/Foodland offers, possibly all of them. Shampoo, Cadbury's and cashing in AM for sure are the ones I remember, and used them at both stores where applicable. I forget what other offers there were but would remember if I"d used them. Can someone remind me what the other offer was/were?
I did spend $27 on things I would not normally have bought (Cadbury's!) and/or in overpricing on things I would likely buy anyway, but still a great investment.
It's good to know AM made good when presented with receipts. I noticed some discrepancies in formatting of receipts from one Sobey store to another (had to go to more than one store to get everything), which made me unsure if everything would get credited, but it did.
