.
For those of us who just received a $36.29 e-Transfer from MNP, here's the explanation . . .

.
When I first saw it this morning, I thought it was a scam attempt ... Not sf-smile

Yes, likely the Facebook user privacy class-action settlement. I have the notification from MNP from January 2024. It said no action was needed unless I objected; however, I did not receive any payments. Have all payments been sent?

From the article I linked in Post #1 . . .

"administrators are paying out almost 900,000 claims, so there are going to be challenges."

.
So I'm guessing the payment process is 'ongoing'.

Same reaction I had to it until I googled it... for those like me that don't have autodeposit enabled, the password to receive it is:

FWIW . . .

I'm no security expert ... but from what I understand, 'Autodeposit' is Far More Secure, and no password is required.

Or have I been misled ❓

I'm not sure on the security aspect, but it is more convenient for sure.
The reason I leave Autodeposit off is because I use e-transfer (to my own email) to move small amounts of funds between FIs quite often (quick transfer with no holding period), and without Autodeposit, I can choose which FI to deposit to.
If I did Autodeposit, I would have to have a different email for every FI.

If you use gmail, you can use the youremail+anytext@gmail.com to create "unique" emails that are all directed to the same base email, youremail@gmail.com. Then you can assign each of these "unique" emails to autodeposit to specific accounts.

So you could use youremail+Tang1234@gmail.com to direct autodeposit to your 1234 account at Tang. All emails would go to youremail@gmail.com.

I don't think all payments have been sent yet, but you had to make a claim.

That is completely brilliant!
Tips like these are why I like this forum.
Thank You

Update1: Not a great start to this process sf-frown. EQ won't let me type a + sign in the email spot, and Simplii barks back with "Please enter an email address in the following format: youremail@example.com. {Result #0038}"

Update2: Works flawlessly with Motive & Tangerine! sf-laugh

Glad it works for two of the four. Another more limited way is to use "." in the email to make it unique... youremail@gmail.com can become your.email@gmail.com; each is treated as unique by each website.

You can place a period anywhere in your gmail email but all of them go to your base gmail account. You can place more than one period too, e.g. your.e.mail@gmail.com

Simplii & EQ both accepted the period in the email, but I did not receive the confirmation email from either of them in my base Gmail account.

Funny thing, while checking the spam folder for the emails, I found an advanced notice of the MNP e-transfer (from info@e.metaclassaction.ca):

Second Notice

MNP Ltd in its capacity as the Claims Administrator of the Facebook Class Action Settlement and not in its personal or corporate capacity will be making its pro-rata distribution to class members who have valid claims. In the event you do not have auto-deposit, you will be asked to provide a password to accept your payment.

The password is “Facebook” The password is case sensitive.

You can easily test it out by sending yourself an email from another account. It does work.

No responses yet from MNP LLP (I had e-mailed their e-mail address and left them a voicemail message).

Thus, I have now tried e-mailing their Kelowna office via a web-based form on the website and separately e-mailed Branch McMaster LLP as Class Counsel, to see if they can assist in connecting me with their contact at MNP LLP. Here is what I wrote:

Dear Branch McMaster LLP as Class Counsel for the Facebook Settlement:

I received an e-mail from MNP LLP as Claims Administrator for the Facebook class-action settlement in January 2024, identifying me as an eligible claimant / member of the class in January 2024, telling me no further further action was needed on my part unless I wished to object to the terms of settlement. It further said I would receive further communications from MNP LLP in regards to court approval of the settlement and payment instructions. However, I received no such further communication. I understand settlement payment disbursements are underway. Are they still ongoing as of this date? In any case, I have yet to receive my payment, and my e-mail messages and telephone calls to MNP LLP have gone unanswered. Could you kindly assist me in having someone from MNP LLP as Claims Administrator reach out to me, perhaps by forwarding it to your primary contact at MNP LLP?

Thanks,
[REDACTED]

I'll let you know what/if I hear back. sf-cool
