Thats the part I dont understand. If our government is so worried, why are they still complacement and not take any decisive action ? Having a "high risk" counterparty having access to our Financial system infrastructure does not seem to make much sense, if they believe the risk is real.

I received an e-mail from these guys saying wealthone will honor me the rate of 5.28% for the 5 years GIC. I have 5 days to get the honored rate.

I suspect these actions preclude larger anti-Chinese actions coming down the pipe. Probably something related to Chinese support of Russia.

As Bill noted, Canada and China were on a much friendlier basis back in 2016. Xi Jin-ping has completely changed China since then.

China has had a habit of drastic makeovers in the post-Mao years, but most of them resulted in closer ties. Not so any more.
