Sometimes i think interest rates are like a game of snakes and ladders. Nobody stays at the top for very long.

Decreasing all GIC rates. New rates will range from 2.65% for 1 year to 2.85% for 5 years.

That's still reasonable. They held out a long time as a top tier direct-to-consumer GIC producer and likely don't need the funds. They only need as many deposits to fund their mortgages; too many excess deposits are just added cost.

Their rates are likely still enough for depositors looking to renew.
