While waiting for TFSA GIC rates to climb a bit more, I decided to move my TFSA Savings from EQ to Motive. I already have a HISA with Motive, so only needed to open a TFSA account and start the transfer, both of which were done online, mailing signed documents upon completion. The entire process took less than 3 weeks, and interest will be paid from the date Motive received the TFSA from EQ. IMHO, that's great processing time from both FIs.

Same experience, EQ to Hubert. EQ's interest rates might suck, but their customer service is surprisingly good even when they're transferring out funds.

F-I-S, thanks for that positive report. I am overdue to make the same move.
Good to know the transactions went smoothly. I had a similar smooth experience when I opened accounts at Motive recently.
I have been hopeful for a rate increase at EQB with a plan to utilize the December Maneuver (D-M) to move our TFSAs. That is still 3 months away. Another option to help a bit is the EQB 3-mo. GIC @ 2.1% which would still make the D-M workable. Your positive experience is giving me thought to another option. Good work.

You mailed signed documents to Motive. Would they not accept a scanned document sent by email attachment? Seems archaic these days to mail hardcopy documents to an online bank.
I cannot remember the last time I needed to send hardcopy docs to an online bank.

I remember linking external account by signing the form, scanning it and emailing it to Motive (and verifying token deposits by calling them.) It wasn't TFSA though. Is snail mail required for TFSA linking?
Since a TFSA account is registered, can it even be linked? How would the FI keep up with the documentation?

My digital bank TFSA HISA is linked to my non-registered HISA at that FI as well as to my external linked accounts. The onus is on the depositor to keep track of contributions and withdrawals to comply with CRA rules.
