In the meanwhile, we hedged our bets by moving all of TFSA for one of us to long GIC. For the other one, we will wait and see if the January rush brings any great offers and add next year's contribution to it. If not, maybe those long promised interest rate hikes will begin.
I note that OAS rates for the 4th quarter this year have gone up about another $5/mo. It's not much, but it means that inflation for this year is higher than last year. Sooner or later, we are told, interest rates will follow. And just wait til the carbon tax (Ontario at least) and the rapidly rising cost of utilities kicks in for the winter!
