Some of you guys are fortunate to have received offers from this lot. Tried to open a HISA for my wife but after submitting three documents from their list, they still say they can’t ID her. Four phone calls, each agent saying they will get someone to call back, complete silence. The account is allegedly open, but yet still receiving e-mails to say, can’t confirm ID. They’ve had three documents to confirm. Wouldn’t go anywhere near these people. Zero points for customer service, communication none existent.

The problem is likely with TransUnion. Tangerine seems to have given over its verification process to TransUnion if my recent experience is any indicator.
You may not want to patronize Tangerine but you might do well to check your credit record at TransUnion. If there is an error, it will continue to haunt your financial flexibility.

There has been a change at Tang over the last 9 months.
Previously, I was able to deposit/pull funds into Tang and they would be on hold, as per standard procedure. While on hold, I could still transfer them between my accounts. This was changed 9 months ago. Now, funds are held in the account in which they arrive for the entire hold period, until released. I called CSR and even they cannot override the hold. He said that it was primarily due to the problems it caused for promotional interest calculations and such.
