Why Tangerine is so slow?
I have submitted a pull from Wealthsimple to Tangerine on December 31 and it got executed on December 31. At the same time in morning of December 31 I submitted a push from Tangerine to WealthONE bank. And now I checked and the money is still in tangerine account will only move on January 2.
Another thing whenever I etransfer 2-3K from Wealthsimple it’s instant. However when etransfer from tangerine the same amount it’s 30 minutes.
Tangerine sucks in more than one way. It pays only 0.1% on USD savings vs WS pays 4%.
Happy new year.

So why have anything to do with Tangerine (or any other FI for that matter -insert your favorite current object of anger)? Walk with your mouse......
No anger mate, just curious why one FI respects and values its customers and the other one does not. I am honestly surprised tangerine still has any customers.

Wealthsimple is trying to get customers, so they do things interally more rapidly.
Tang is Scotiabank, and with the holiday, that is the normal course of action, every Tang tranfer occurs the next business day. Bankers hours.

Why always try to lecture people posting questions if you have nothing of value to offer? Walk away with your mouse.
Lecture? I don't think so. A simple question asking why one would stay with a business they are unhappy with. I have dropped financial businesses like Motive, Simplii, Tangerine over the years for that reason alone. A few more are going out the door in 2025. My curious mind would like to understand.
The same concept applies to telecom services, perhaps the industry most notorious for customer complaints.

I made a transfer from TD to Simpli before 8am on Dec 31. It took 2 days for the transfer to move. So this is not just a prob with Tanga.
I've had a good bit of money at Tanga for years. They make special offers if you have enough money there (I'm not sure of the threshold). You can always call the CSR. The special will be for 90 days or sometimes 6 months. If you want to play the game right, you move the money out about a week before the expiry date, as they take a "snapshot" of your account and will then only offer a great rate on "New money". So if you take your money out, and bring it back, it's considered new money. Simplii used to offer the same thing. They stopped for quite a few years but have recently started offering these great rates. I'm getting 5.25 @ Simplii right now. And I'm being lazy and didn't move the money out of Tanga, and I'm getting 3.95 till the end of Feb. (they have a lower rate for "old money"). Now breathe.

The obvious answer to your question from most would be 'the attractive offer not available elsewhere' could not be refused.
These days, seems to me that every business is out to take advantage of customers, especially faceless online customers. Out of curiosity, which FIs and Telcos do you think still deserve your business, and why?

On the other hand, I am getting government payouts to my Tangerine account a day earlier than government schedule says.
For example, we should expect Carbon Tax rebate on January 15th. It will be in my Tangerine checking account on 14th, at about 10am-11am Eastern time.
I don't know if any other banks deposit funds that fast, but even Scotiabank, Tangerine parent, deposits them according to government schedule.
When it is time for me to sign for OAS and CPP, I'll definitely set direct deposit to my Tangerine account.

This is not unique to Tangerine, my payroll with Wealthsimple and also get deposited one day earlier.

Tang is also slow compared to CIBC in bill payments, which surprised me. I recently sent two payments to same credit card, one week apart, same day of week, same time of day. Tang's took an extra business day compared to CIBC.
The credit card account shows "payment date" and "posting date." Payment date is your bank account bill payment date and posting date is the 2 days later on your credit card account. So you should still get credit (on your credit card acct) for the payment on the date you initiate the bill payment at your bank.
