I used to receive Tangerine offers regularly, but I don't have that one. Would not mind to lock 1.7% till February next year, and could move some money right away.Well, perhaps another day (or another offer)...
Same here, no offers anymore. That EQ 1.8% 3 month GIC looks good and ready for the taking.

The obvious attraction of Tangerine offer is if between now and February some other bank I have account with offers better interest, I can move money there right away.
With GIC money is stuck where it is, till maturity.
I wonder, if I should call Tangerine and ask for that deal. Also, does anyone know good key words to give to their chat bot to trigger request for promo offer?

Alexandre, the tangerine phone number to call is. 1 888 600 9890
Tell the person you talk to, you are aware of the 1.7% offer and you'd appreciate the same. When you get the offer, ask for the person's name and extension number, then in 150 days call that same person again.
So, save the above 1 888 the phone number, the name and ext number somewhere safe, where you'll be able to find it in 150 days.

Wow! I actually tested this number with the one they have on the website, and it goes to a live agent much quicker with fewer button presses, thank you!

Transferring out money after Tangerine refuses to make an offer does help.
Saver-Mom reported that in 2016:
So my poor beleagered mom who was refused the 2% for 6 months (so immediately transferred out a large chunk of change) just received the 2.5%-on-new-money-till-end-of-March promo, by email. … She has never received any email promo in the past, and had always left money in the account at whatever was the rate on offer.…
I suspect Tangerine's computer algorithms to assign offers do recognize when people are bluffing.

Again...it makes NO difference... Unless you are in the know of the marketing team, there is NO discernible pattern. Many people have tried. I have been receiving promos for years... people used ALL KINDS of patterns... Take ALL money out, leave some money in, wait a while, call in, don't call in, etc, etc, etc, etc... NONE seem to make ANY difference. So don't sweat it.
If you are the lucky one, be happy.
