The title has a typo: It should say "beyond" not "beyone".
I would like to confirm a few things. The rep at ING said that there is a $2 fee ING charges for using the ATM outside of Canada and not Foreign Exchange Fee that other banks often charge (usually 2.5%).

https://secure.ingdirect.ca/INGDirect.html?command=displayAbmLocator
"Feel free to use your ING DIRECT Client Card to withdraw money at any ACCEL/Exchange machines and never pay any additional fees."
Note they don't say "fees" but "additional fees". Does that mean there isn't a charge in the US or not I wonder?

Does anyone know how hard it is for a Canadian to open a bank account at in ING in the US? Say the Canadian has a passport but obviously not an American Social Security Number. And once that account is open, can I move money across the border between the accounts easily and without incurring charges?

At $2/transaction and no foreign exchange fees, this has got to be one of the best deals out there for US travel.

I used my ING (Canada) ATM card in the USA in 2010 and was charged $1.40 per transaction by the Cirrus/Maestro network, no other fees as far as I could see. And in all the countries from Mexico down to Argentina, it was always $4.25 per transaction, in 2008 to 2010 anyway.

Now that the cards work on the Exchange network, I'd say it's a safe bet that there won't be any fees when using an Exchange network ATM, but I haven't tried that in the US yet.
