I hope you didn't leave the money rotting in the account earning 0.15 % because that seems to be what they are counting on and are quite happy with that. I always move all of my funds out before the promo ends and have generally received an offer without having to phone in and beg.
If your HISA is paying 1.3% to 1.8% it is hard to justify taking advantage of a 2% Tangerine promo.

Why do you move funds before promo ends?
Why not move them just after the promo ends?

Good idea to move money before promo ends. You have a low balance if you get another promo offer.

I called Simplii to activate the 2% deal until the end of March. You have to wait until April to get the bonus. Until that happens you collect .10%. The maximum is $500,000. The other 1.9% will probably be paid by April 15th. I can wait until April 30th.
Hopefully this very long link works.

If the problem is that you are maxed out at 500K,
I wonder if Simplii would allow an equal amount in a joint account and whether there is anyone you would be willing to have a joint account with? Perhaps it could be made to work if the other person was the primary account holder? Just guessing.
Other than that, and all the usual suspects, maybe wait a few weeks and see what comes up, if anything, in RSP/TFSA promos. Sometimes FIs can be persuaded to extend these offers to non-reg'd, This is admittedly a longshot.
Or you could buy yourself a yacht and a Porsche and have less cash to worry about! LOL

I read on RedFlags forum that people are now getting offered 1.4% for 3 - 6 months by Tangerine. I think one person may have gotten 1.6% but that was almost 1 month ago. My promo rate of 1.6% expired on the weekend and I plan to call them shortly. The question is how low will they go?
Added later (11:46 pm ET): Just called Tangerine and got an agent within 5 minutes even though their website said 25 minute wait time. I accepted 1.4% for 5 months for up to $1MM. I already have some at Simplii and some at Motive, so just trying to spread things around. Not thrilled with the rate but at least I got something.

My promo rate expired Christmas Day, called today, agent answered immediately, checked my profile and I got offered same as MG on $Cdn non-registered savings accounts. Wife's promo had expired in November, they offered her zero today but said they'll be sending out some promos soon, she should wait for that.

I simply refuse to deal with Tangerine. They have lied to me many times.
Last year I had arranged to transfer my TFSA (around $75,000.00) from Scotiabank to them and they backed out of it at the very last minute. Left me in a mess!
What was the reason for them backing out? Seems strange

Tangerine's special rate on their "Savings Acct" (I do not use HISA anymore) is now 1.3% for 5 months to May 31st. which is a bit higher rate than Hubert, Oaken, Alterna Bank etc. With Tangerine issuing mortgages at 1.69% for 3 years and 1.74% for 5 years, the 1.3% is realistic. No doubt real estate sales will boom again in 2021.
