I have Tangerine TFSA account and want to transfer it to another bank. Now to avoid the direct transfer fee, is it better to transfer funds to Tangerine Chequing account and withdraw from there with the limitation of daily limit OR just transfer funds from TFSA to chequing and move directly from Tangerine chequing to other bank chequing. Will I still be able to avoid fee?

Not sure exactly what you mean. Both scenarios you move the TFSA funds into your Tang checking account. If you "Pull" the funds from your other bank's institution, should be no limits. If you "push" the out of Tang, there is a daily limit. Good article on it here:

I pulled mine from my other banks' checking account in one shot at the end of December then put it in to my new TFSA account after Jan 1. Using the checking account will not result in any fees. Just don't re-contribute to the other TFSA account until the new year (unless you have the contribution room) or you'll be dinged a penalty for over contributing.
