I just received this email notice of extension January 1, 2025 - March 31, 2025. 4.15%
My current offer ends December 31 at 5.35%.

“on January 7, 2025, we’ll send an email with details about activating this new Savings offer.
This could be a perfect way to grow your TFSA, RSP and regular Savings.

Here’s what else you need to know:

You’ll earn 4.15%* interest from January 1, 2025 until March 31, 2025

This will apply to existing and new Tangerine Savings Account(s), including RSP, TFSA and US$

This will apply to the new money you brought to your Account(s) since October 3, 2024

Remember to activate your special rate and keep your new deposits in place to make the most of your offer.

Stay tuned!”

I assume your current promo was from October to the end of December?

I just got a similar offer, but at 3,50%. As I understand it, any money (excluding promotional interest) over your balance on October 3rd will receive the new promotional interest. Not a good deal for me, since my balance on October 3rd was much higher than what I have now and withdrawing only to deposit again doesn’t change my balance on October 3rd, it’s not new money. I will go elsewhere.

I'm also on the 5.35% promo but I think it ends on January 31, 2025. Are there two end dates (i.e December 31st and January 31st) for this promo?

Something is irregular....Offer starts on Jan 1, 2025....but you only find out about activating the offer on Jan 7, 2025! ...and of course the fine print states:
"This Offer, including interest rates, may change, be extended or cancelled without notice."

This activation and late activation requirement is Tang's way of screwing over forgetful investors! Tang truly value their customers-not.

Scotiabank CEO has ordered Tangerine to start doing these technical tricks to catch people, to increase their profits.

Why don't you just get even with them - buy some Scotiabank shares and you too can enjoy those increased profits! Scotiabank pays a steady quarterly dividend of around 5.5% and is increased from time to time.

Yep this is a tricky offer from Tang, as the account interest on the first of the month drops to the low level. So if you forget or miss the email to extend the offer, you get burned.
Imagine your job being to think of ways to structure offers to trick and dupe a certain % of your customers.

The trick here is to withdraw everything and not deposit until the 7th, when you activate. Your next promo will probably exclude all money in your account ending on the 6th, after that date it should be considered new money. My two cents.

The activation date may not matter either.

My current Tangerine offer will pay the promotional interest for the entire Promotional Period (November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025) as long as one activates by November 30, 2024.

Just received offer of 4.15% until March. Those crooks did it again. New money brought after October 3. So, since I had most of my money with them, I would not receive anything if I just put this amount back in. They're all snakes.

It's not an e-mail, it's a notice in your Tangerine account.

My current offer activated today is 3,50% and it runs from January 1st to May 31st 2025, new money brought in from October 3rd 2024.

Same here with Simplii and ING. So I went to Manulife for the 4.80%

How did you do the Manulife? I signed up for it as well, then tried logging back in and something went wrong. I then called and the guy I spoke with, who is in Egypt, said you need an advisor to access anything with Manulife. ???? Maybe he is just misinformed and I should call back. On a 5.10% rate with RBC right now for 90 days so will look at it mid February. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks

How did you get 5.1% with RBC?
