My last promotion for 2% ended yesterday Feb 28. I was offered 1.45% as a new rate on all monies. I told them I found that low. I am preparing to move my funds out and waited until today so I could do with the promotional interest bonus included, since they only add it to the account the first of the month. It’s 10:32 a.m. as I write this and I went into my account 10 min ago and the promotional interest has not yet been added. Anyone know when/around what time that’s done? Thanks.
I am in the same situation, but I did not do anything yet. My money is still there at 0.01% right now... but not for long. Did you get this 1.45% offer by calling them ? or it came in by itselt ? What are you expecting ? Thanks for your help and for any information you could share ! ( GoHabsGo ! 🙂 )

Thanks everyone for your posts. First, I'll respond to some of them:

That's strange because mine was added March 1 (today) at 3 a.m.
Are you sure it was added at 3 a.m.? 🙂 Keep reading...

Hi GoHabs. The interest shows up about an hour or two into the new day. I often don't see it either. I have to refresh the page view, selecting transactions "last 30 days" and then it appears.
ADDED edit.
Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly. You do NOT lose a months worth of interest if you pull your funds before the end of the month. Say you moved your money out on the 26th of February, you would lose 3 days worth of interest.
Refreshing the page didn't show me anything new and it didn't show up in my transactions for the last 30 days.
Yes, I know you don't lose a month's worth of interest if you pull the funds out before the end of the month. I wanted to make sure I got the interest for the 26th, 27th, and 28th.
Ok, so I went back into my account around 11:40 a.m. The promotional bonus interest had still not been credited to both accounts (USD and CDN savings). I was putzing around, refreshing pages, then decided to just transfer the current balances out. Called Tangerine as one of the accounts is over the limit for me to transfer out on my own. I was on hold and still in my account and then 10 minutes later, the balance of both accounts was updated to reflect the promotional bonus interest had been added. However, it was not listed in my transactions. It finally showed up another 43 minutes later under transactions with the time of the transactions listed as 3:41 a.m. in both accounts. I was still on hold all this time - had gotten through to a agent who strongly suggested I speak with a supervisor about a better promotional rate so I said ok. While on hold I recorded all the times re the bonus interest rate being added and when it got posted.
I even transferred out the entire balance of one account including the bonus interest 4 minutes before the bonus interest got listed under transactions.
When a supervisor finally came on the line I mentioned the issue re the bonus interest and the time discrepancy and he said it has happened before but he doesn't know why. And, because I know someone will ask - he didn't offer me a better promotion so I had him moved out the monies in the other account. Two accounts with zero balance.
So just because it says a transaction took place at a certain time, doesn't mean it's necessarily so 🙂
Have a good rest of the day everyone!

I called to move my money out last week. At the time I asked if there was another promotion available to me. The agent said the best he could do was 1.4% but suggested he could have someone from retention call me. I said ok. Got a call and was offered the 1.45.
What am I expecting? Considering they are offering 2.1% to new clients, I'l like a rate that shows they appreciate their existing customers.
My only suggestions are to check out the HISA chart on this site and also do a Google search for best high interest savings accounts/rates. HTH 🙂

I bet this is just the time it takes the program to run through their entire database of accounts. It would be impossible for everyone's accounts to be updated instantly live. It probably loops through batches of accounts when calculating the payments.
The transaction time could be the time it started the batching process.
