Got an email today ahead of the actual extension offer, it includes old money from May 6th. My current offer is ending on Sept 30th.

I got it too. They went as far back as May, which kind of limits the amount of "eligible deposits", at least in my case.
Promotional Interest is the interest earned on Eligible Deposits during the Promotion Period. “Eligible Deposits” for any day during the Promotion Period is the excess of (i) the sum of end-of-day balances in all Applicable Accounts per Applicable Account Type (excluding Promotional Interest) over (ii) the sum of end-of-day balances in all Applicable Accounts per Applicable Account Type as at May 6, 2024

Playing it many different ways it seems...here's what i got today.

One of the worst offers I have rec'd from Tang.

What I got "This will apply to the new money you brought to your Account(s) since May 7, 2024" actually works for me. My AA counts were at $1 3 days before and 3 days after may 7.
So, I may accept and see what happens

They seem to be giving various extension offers to people who have an existing offer expiring Sept 30 (where the "new money snapshot" was May 7). My existing rate was 5.75%, and they giving me an extension offer of 5.25% until Dec 31 (3 months), keeping that May 7 new money snapshot date.
Other people have been getting variations on the same extension with lower rates but for longer periods:
3.75% until Feb 28 (5 months)
4.50% until Feb 28 (5 months)
As always, Tangerine's lottery process is completely opaque. In my case I hadn't received any offers for a few years; my accounts were still open with a few dollars as I spend part of my year in a small town where the only ABM is a Scotiabank. I picked up a healthy chunk of their 6% GICs last fall, and this spring I got my first offer in a long time, that 5.75% until Sept 30 that they are now extending at 5.25% (for me).
It could be that part of their calculus includes knowledge of linked high-rate accounts like Wealthsimple or other guesses that lower rates might not get take-up, or size of business, past history, or phase of the moon - who knows.

I went back through my records and this is simply a 5.25% offer that extends a 5.75% offer that expires on Sep 30 that applied to funds in excess of our May 6 balance. So 5.25% through the balance of the year is good to me ...

Hi all,
I received this offer to my inbox yesterday from Tangerine. I'm currently on a 5.75% promotional interest rate until Monday September 30, 2024. So do I just keep my funds parked in Tangerine and not do anything but accept the new promotional offer of 5.25% until December 31st, 2024 once they send out the new offer? I moved in funds from Manulife Bank to Tangerine on Thursday August 8, 2024. So just to clarify the wording does that mean that all the current funds in my Tangerine Account will receive the new 5.25% promotional offer (once I accept it) until December 31st, 2024?
I am thinking of possibly moving funds over to Simplii Financial for the 5.50% promotional offer until November 15th, 2024 and then move it back to Tangerine on November 15th, 2024 or thereafter. Manulife Bank is also offering me a 5.15% promotional offer until December 6, 2024 but obviously the 5.15% promotional offer is not as good. As you guys know and love, it's always good to have options though!

Anything over and above your snapshot end of day account balance on July 4 is eligible for the promotional offer.

One thought though, you may find your offer may arrive in Insights before you receive the email.

My current offer expires soon.
I already pulled money out to WS to get their 1% offer plus 3.75% (plus another 0.5% ) they are paying at the moment.
I didn’t get any emails or notifications from Tangerine which makes this decision even easier.

Yes, you are correct, my offer is good till Dec. 31st. It was a typo.
