WTF, Tang is whacked. I just enabled the 2.2%. They must be targeting specific clients with the different rates.
Yeah, that's why I'm holding off. To me, they were low-balling. I may call in and ask them to remove the current 2.2% offer and instead offer 2.6% until September 30. Interest rates are anticipated to rise, not fall.

Looking forward to hearing what happens. I just finished a 2.0% offer. I received the 2.2% but haven't accepted it yet as we have our TNG $ in my wife's accounts @ 2.4% thru Aug, her first in 25 years...

About a week ago, spouse was offered 2.4% in an automated voice message that came on the phone when calling in about something else.
We didn't accept it as we had other issues on our minds and didn't want to take the time to try to figure out all the conditions. Also, we have a better deal at DUCA. The audio message said it would expire in 2 days.
On the third day spouse was talking to them again and they said they had no record of any such offer!
There's always a new trick at Tang. This one was unusual because it came by audio during a phone call only. And the timing was significant. Spouse had just received, from a third party, a transfer of an amount that exceeded Tang's outgoing online transfer limit. Looking at the account's past history would indicate spouse was likely to be calling in order to have the CSR manually transfer the amount elsewhere (which was true).
So I conclude that there may be some intelligence at work in these offers after all.

They don't adjust up during an existing promo?
Based on what I've been reading on RFD the last few months, yes, they do indeed up rates when clients call in dissatisfied about their offer currently in effect. Not saying every client that calls in gets an increase, just that it's not unheard of. I've yet to accept the current 2.2% offer and may ignore it, or make a call to see if they would like an opportunity to improve their offer.

Yesterday I called and was told 'there was no promo available to me'. Today, I logged in and the 2.6% promo is available to me.
You’re eligible for a special interest rate on your savings.
A great savings rate could be just the thing you need to help you reach your savings goals faster. And now with this online-only offer, here’s how you can start earning 2.60% interest* on new deposits to your Tangerine Savings Account(s), Tax-Free Savings Account(s), RSP Savings Account(s) and now, US$ Savings Account(s):
Click the ‘Activate Now’ button below by May 31, 2022
Eligible new deposits to these Accounts from May 6, 2022 to September 30, 2022 (up to a maximum of $1,000,000† per Applicable Account Type*) will earn your special rate of 2.60%.

that seals it for me. ZERO sense I will accept their $hitty 2.2% and thinks I owe them big time by offering me such a "good" rate...

I received the 2.2% promo from Tang via email the other day. I simply deleted the email. Duca has 2.5% until the end of 2022 and you get it without having to negotiate. You do have to call them to move your money into the promo account, but that is not a problem at all, it is just a formality. I believe that the limit is much smaller than with Tang, though (not a problem for me).

The [Duca] Promotion account is not accessible at an ATM and cannot be used for bill payments, telephone banking, remote cheque deposits, or any type of e-transfer. At the end of the campaign, all funds in the Promotion account will automatically transfer into a regular (non-promotional) Earn More Savings Account. Online transfers and transfers through the DUCA phone app are not possible as the Promotion account is only accessible to DUCA staff.
Thanks, but for an extra 0.3% interest that is too many restrictions for my taste. Someone who considers this as a some sort of cashable GIC may find it attractive.

Looks like it's evolving again … new variants are emerging
Tangerine Bank ... the ever changing 'Chameleon'.
Fortunately, when it comes to Tangerine, most of us know to 'roll-with-the-punches'. When they offer us good deals, they get our $$$ ... when they don't, our $$$ goes elsewhere.
