I logged into tangerine bank and just saw they dropped their high interest savings account interest rate to 0.25%!!!

They advertise a teaser rate but it time limited and on new deposits only. I started to move my about half my savings to an on line credit union with better rates already, when they lowered the rate to 1.5% but now at 0.25 I'll be moving the rest of my saving this week. It was great when it was ING but since Scotia bought they have been making it less an less attractive as an online back.

If you're still in tangerine you it may be time to shop around.

.
⬆ the reason Tangerine isn't here ➡ https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/chart/ , and hasn't been for quite some time now.

Earlier this month, I made an exception and got in on their short term SA bait-rate @ 2.80% ... but on Sept. 1st, that $$$ will probably be moved elsewhere, and my Tangerine SA will sit empty again.

Yup ... Tangerine ain't what it used to be. sf-confused

Ditto....barring another offer. Do we want to start playing the shuffle the funds between accounts to take advantage of the next offer game? Might have attracted their algorithm's attention this time since Motive dropped to 2.2% and Tang benefited (with suspiciously convenient timing) by their offer. I can be bought.

I can be bought too!

I played the game and took advantage of several of the special offers that I've received since 2015 (being in Quebec, I can't open an account with Motive):

Nothing wrong with taking it out. I will not bother bringing it back for a short promotion period.
