Haven't seen anything yet. I'm still on the 4.75% promo until May 31st.

Same here. I am on the same promo!

Question: once they offer me a new promo. Is that mean it will not apply on the funds that are already sitting in savungs account?

mine says explicitly new money only.

Also its interesting it does not tally up any outstanding GIC as part of the snapshot re ur opening balance. So technically any matured GIC can earn the promo rate I believe.

I just got this promotion. I didn't get any promotions in January or February so my balances have been 0$ but I have some money in a joint account that is part of the January promotion. If I move money over to my account will count as new money? Should I call Tangerine to clarify?

I learned the hard way that when you receive a Tangerine offer via email you must click on the link included in the email message that acknowledges you accept the offer. I received the 5% offer a few weeks back & immediately transferred funds from another FI into my Tangerine savings account. If I remember correctly the 5% offer for new deposits lasted until July 31. I logged into my Tangerine account yesterday to find out how much interest I received & noticed the amount seemed well short of what I thought I should have received. I phoned Tangerine & was informed that I had not accepted the offer via the link in the email. I just assumed (my bad) I would be receiving the 5% rate on any new deposits from the date I received the offer & to make matters worse the offer needed to be acknowledged by Feb 28th. Instead of 5% I got 1% lol. Live & learn.

Nothing for me yet, by email or 'insights'. My last promo ended 2 months ago.

I've learned to go to Account Details to see if that account has the promotion.

I think it might depend on who is listed as the Primary account holder for the Joint account. If you are not the Primary, it should be okay to count it as new money, since promos only apply to Primary acount holders.

I'm not even on 5%. I called and was told my money would only get 3.75%, so I'll keep my balances at zero to reflect my disdain for Tang.

Weird, I always activated the special rate via their app. I never accepted the offer through the e-mail.

The key is to understand what the offer actually is, decide if it is acceptable to you and if it is, accept it. Not accepting it is not accepting it ...

I'm old school & do not have the app since my cell is almost never on & I only have my cell as an emergency device while in my car & leave it in the center console. I use my laptop for everything.

Once the offer is "Accepted" you should receive an email that confirms it. Also, before transferring any $ to the account, select the account in Tangerine and look at "Account Details". You should see something like this ...

Or this ...

either way, for both Tang and Simplii, you have to accept/activate the promo.
I can imagine people just got "tricked" and thought "oh I saw the email promo" without realizing its not live until activated...

i got the 5.25 offer also, i was overdue for an offer. After I activate, i always screenshot the special rate on the details of my account, just in case there is a problem. had to keep a large sum liquid, so very happy to get this rate at this time.

Happy with this. At least money will get good cash while we wait for notary date (End of April) to do the big 30% down payment.

Does anyone know if tangerine business accounts get the same targeted promo rates as the personal bank account accounts?

Edit- after a quick qoogle search it appears they do offer targeted promos to business accounts that are separate from personal savings accounts. (in case anyone else was curious)
