Searched for 'Special Rate' on the Tang site, and on page 3 of the search results at https://www.tangerine.ca/en/landing-page/specialinterestrate/index.html
The details are quite vague - to me at the least - but applies to certain applicable accounts notably Savings, RSP, and TFSP accounts from Oct. 5, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2016.

Interesting...yeah, not surprised there's no rate. That's just the "pardon the interruption"-type promo to move one's money. If the date(s) are accurate, I should be able to get a few extra days of interest from Tangerine by leaving my deposits in my Tangerine Savings through Sept. 30th.
My prediction: 3%, down slightly from the 3.1% summer promo.
Cheers,
Doug

"special interest rate" that's calculated from your savings... they should just give us a chart so we can plan ahead.
" in new deposits" so if I move them from chequing into saving, it wouldn't count would it.
Close, but you could actually move your Tangerine Savings deposits to Tangerine Chequing (not from Chequing to Savings as mentioned above) prior to the account balance "snapshot date," which is never disclosed in advance but is typically not before the 1st of the month and with which appears to be Oct. 4th this time.
Interestingly, Tangerine doesn't include "Chequing" in their "Eligible Accounts" so, yeah, you don't have to move elsewhere, though moving elsewhere would generate additional interest and protect you in case no new promo. Just remember your hold periods.
Cheers,
Doug

The link above no longer goes to the offer detail, but to the extremely annoying:
"Oops, we can't find the page you're looking for but we did find the elusive $3 bill."
It should say:
"Oops, we just noticed that we did it again ( i.e. posting secret marketing where the public can see it). Now we're forced to change the dates for that offer."

Hello all ; My 3.25% rate ends tomorrow.Called just now to *transfer out* most of the funds from the account. They make you call if you are transferring out more than 25,000$ at once.Asked the reason- customer service, interest rate?Told the rep .08 % wasn't going to cut the mustard. He asked me to hold for a minute to see what he could do.Came back in less than a minute with 2.5% for an additional 90 days.Sounded good to me.Very easy,no hassle, 3 minute phone call to get highest rate for a savings account. I have no funds in Tang at the moment. Transferred them all to the checking just before the end of my last promo offer and never received another offer. My wife, on the other hand, was offered 3.25 on new funds in a savings account that didn't exist. As i have no funds in Tang to negotiate with, I assume I will not get an offer for the next promo... leaving me no option to negotiate a deal for after September. I guess I will have to get by with EQ's 2%. If anyone from Tang reads this... your loss.

It says "From October 5, 2016 to December 31, 2016, you’ll earn your special interest rate on up to $500,000 in new deposits that raise your total Applicable Account Type* balances above what they were on October 4th. All other deposits will earn the applicable Posted Rate."
I assume the 2nd sentence does not apply to those who are on a 3-month or so promo rate - ?

I assume the 2nd sentence does not apply to those who are on a 3-month or so promo rate - ?That is my thinking too, Bill. My previous promotion ended Oct. 2nd and knowing that this 'Special Rate' was to come along October 5th, I'm patiently waiting to see if anything worthwhile comes out it.

So it appears that those who have accepted the previous July 5-Sept 30 'new money' summer rate (offers of between 1.75%-3.25%, I believe), and who phoned Tangerine recently, may have been offered 2.50% or 3.00%, full balance for 90 days...(of course, there were those who received no offer at all, (no soup for you!) either back in July, and/or in the last few days !!) This offer should be called a 'retention' offer, full balance; not a bad deal, in advance of the Oct 4/5 impending offer??
Those who moved money out of Tangerine prior to Oct 4, will now, hopefully, receive a targeted 'new money' offer...
I will follow, with great interest (pun intended), the continuing Tangerine machinations!

Hopefully we'll know something by tomorrow, but I have to wonder for whom that page at Tangerine was intended. The link works, but I can't make it come up by searching the site and nobody has yet claimed it was sent to them as far as I remember.
It's a peculiar document. Taken at face value, it appears to encourage clients to pull out all their money before Oct 4, which Tang surely must not want.

Maybe they were being slightly kind and giving warning/heads up about what to do with your money. Although I'm thinking this was stumbled upon by accident more than anything.
A calculated stumble.... I'm also unable to replicate the initial search result, but the link is active once again.
We'll find out in the morning if it is what it is...

Something is afoot. I, who have never before received a targeted offer from Tangerine, received a targeted offer of 2% until Dec. 31st this morning. However, I keep all my savings in a TFSA and recently moved it to Peoples Trust. I'll keep my Tangerine balance at nil until they offer a better regular/non-targeted TFSA rate, perhaps in future years.
