Very true, but the fact that you may need to waste 2 hours on hold for a simple transaction almost negates the added security benefit. If Tang wants to employ such strict security measures, then they need to make them painless by adding sufficient staff to handle the calls. Instead, their arrogance simply oozes, "Your time is worthless."

I don't recall waiting long for Tang on the phone just a few minutes. If its a 2 hour wait that is totally unacceptable.
But these days usually there is a call-back feature that works.
Personally, I want limits on my accounts well below 50K.
A friend had their account emptied years ago in another country, over 150K gone, no recourse other than calling the police, no result. Wrecked their life basically.

Sorry to hear that, but trying to understand how does this happen? Isn't Tangerine account linked only to other Canadian accounts?
The frauds that I have heard about are just interac e transfer frauds, maximum 3k per day.

That comment was just a general banking transfer limit comment, not about Tangerine.
In that case, his "financial advisor" had access to his accounts for transfers. He cleaned out all his clients and vanished to Thailand apparently. Interpol doesn't get your money back.
Yes he was beyond foolish to give his credentials away, but with transfer limits the guy would have probably only gotten 25K. I bet this happens more than we think, thus the limits.

That is a different case then.
If I have Tangerine credentials, I can do exactly the same thing by calling them what I can do online with those credentials.
So what's the point, especially when there are long waits to talk most of the time. The first line that you hear without fail is "WE ARE GETTING MORE CALLS THAN EXPECTED".

No as you would have to be the owner of the account to be identified. Not the same as log-in credentials.
If Tang didn't have limits, I would ask for them, 25K is about right. I prefer knowing the money is going to be there in the morning, and to be notified of any large transactions.
So then find a bank that makes it easier to move 100K-500K without checks and balances.

And how do you think they are identifying the owner? Have you called them for transferring funds recently?
They just ask your name which someone can easily access once they have online credentials.

nope, they ask questions to confirm account ownership, and the call is recorded.
Also they do a callback that works fine.
I called them yesterday. They just asked for my FULL name, that's all. No other verification questions.
But I had logged into the IVR- Phone system by entering my Client ID and password, which are the same as my Online login ID & password.
I guess they just assumed it's me! Because I logged in the Phone with my Client ID and password. Only full name was asked by the agent.
I had to wait 20 minutes to speak to the agent. They said the wait time is going to be 30 minutes, but luckily I only had to wait 20 minutes.
I remember the pre Scotia days, almost immediately you used to get an agent.
I used to live their web chat feature, where you could keep a record of the entire written conversation. Now it's replaced with that stupid bot, which is useless.
ING Direct pretty much went down when it became Tangerine and Scotiabank took over.

No other security verification questions. Nothing! I called yesterday.
