I seriously did consider making Tangerine my primary bank. It would be a big endeavour because I have many transactions linked to my chequing account. I would do it because it could be beneficial overall BUT another HUGE obstacle is the limit of only 3 links to external accounts. I have too many accounts to make that workable.
Have you considered linking only one account at each financial institution with Tangerine, and your three most commonly used accounts? For your other accounts, link them with EQ Bank and PayPal.
I helped my parents switch their day-to-day pre-authorized debits and direct deposits a number of years ago when my mom was given a package from Scotiabank and her employee benefits banking package would be ending. They had monthly car and home insurance payments, payroll direct deposits, mortgage payment, several utility and telco payments, and then had their bill payees to re-set up. Overall it didn't take that long to switch everything over. Maybe a month, at most. I think they left a bit of a small float ($1,000 at Scotiabank) for a month or so, but otherwise was pretty easy to switch over. 🙂

That's what WAS nice about Hubert until Sep 22! I think you could link up to 10 external accounts, so it made a good hub - pun intended.
Oaken is good too except for the longer holds.
I wish Tangerine allowed more external links since every transfer initiated from Tangerine gets a confirmation number which I suppose could be handy if something goes wrong.

Was just logged in to Tangerine and was offered a survey. Instead of the usual automatic "dismiss", I completed it adding a comment requesting more external links (since I just removed one in order to add another). Maybe enough requests would make something happen??

I've been asking Tangerine that for a long time. And EQ Bank for Joint GIC's. Answers add up to something like not now but maybe later ...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take it into consideration but too much to consider at this time. The goal is to keep things centralized, especially to address Tang MC payments. To split my main banking across other banks is not what I am after, as I have several... Between CDN and US accounts, 3 just not cut it, even for basics.
BTW, I would never link anything to PayPal...too much to address here but since they are mostly a payment processor, not as accountable nor trustworthy...they repeatedly act unilaterally with little recourse.

One doubts Tangerine wants to add more external account links to make it easier for people to move their money out!
But its not so hard to add back an account, if you keep all the info handy. Only takes about 2 days to add again.

I believe that you are only allowed 10 new account additions / month, too.
Oh, and if you try to add too many in too short a time period, you may trigger a security alert and have your account locked and then be forced to wait online for up to three HOURS (like me) to clear security.
