Bit of a stupid comment, no? Anyways, called Simplii to confirm that they are crooked. Money above your balance on Nov/15th only receives bonus interest. I left it until the 16th to get the full amount. Told them, this would be the last time I ever deal with them. Thanks for pointing out the fine print. Except the above

Tang emailed me a 3.25% offer until March 31 today. It's a hard pass for me:
- Almost all my funds are locked in GICs right now
- Its only 5bp better than Motive's everyday rate
- Simplii just offered me 4.25% until Feb 28
The question I have is, should I activate this offer or not? (even though I won't be depositing)
What will increase my odds of getting a better rate offered in the future?

If you accepted Tangerine low offer, why would they make it higher next time? That would be illogical.
I am currently on 4.25% promo offer till January 31, which is downgrade from my previous promo offer of 4.75%. While some other folks are still getting above 5% promo rates from Tangerine.
I am not complaining, it is fair game, and I can't get better than 4.25% from any HISA account I already hold. Until now I always accepted any Tangerine offer coming my way, even if I had no need to use it. But now my plan is, for next time, if Tangerine offers me promo too low to be useful, just ignore it and see what happens.

Even I am on 4.25% and my son in univ has got 5.35%. I am not going to waste my time and energy anymore trying understanding their logic. Just accept what they give, if something else is better move. It is random nothing else and based on how much money they want that day.

My 5.35% rate expires on November 30th.
Received an email yesterday to offer me a 4.6% rate from Dec 1st to Feb 28th on new money after September 5th.
I find it funny that they warn you twice at 21 days and 5 days that your rate will expire, inciting you to move your money out but then, 2 days before deadline, produce a new offer.
I sure hope they're having fun playing all these games.
