That's usually what I do, call the day after the promo ends and see if they've got something before I move it out. They usually do, though not their very best rate.
Or else I move it out before the promo ends and then wait, often that gets me their best promo rate offer about a month to 3 months later, sometimes takes up to a year or so but eventually something always comes around for me.

It's crazy the multiple different hoops we have to jump through with Tang! They only offered me 4% today so I got them to unlock all I had with them and moved it out to better pastures.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the room with the algo data team that tracks/implements their numerous offers. I'm sure TANG must have this rate dance down to a science but it is baffling how and why they are so seemingly inconsistent.

It is inconsistent because the offers are at least partially random.
A while back, someone filed a complaint with their ombudsman about the targeted promotions. One of the findings was that there is randomness to the offers.

Thanks for this link ... I see the 'random' comment in the 3rd paragraph by the associate.
Further into the letter, I place higher weight in the marketing departments comments to suggest, they, like most other banks today, have increasingly sophisticated Artificial Intelligence that knows how to target 'random' (read anyone they wish) customers with great accuracy, and to heck with trying to offer the same deal to all customers - this is how they make the most $$$ ! 😉 😉 . . . End of speculation 🙂

Being an old fart who joined ING when they first opened (pre-Tangerine), I clearly remember their old dutch guy in the commercials assuring us that there were no fees at all and that everyone got the same posted rate with no fiddling.
Then, they sold their soul to the devil big bank.

My advice will be NEVER phone in and ask for offers. The offer you will get are always sub par, and it throws u off-cycle compare to their "reg" special promo cycle, which are end of the month.
If you dont receive a promo extension from a promo ending, just move ur money somewhere else. By doing that, you WILL receive a promo at their next 1 or 2 cycle, and the rate is "guaranteed" to be better than the "phone in" one.
You do want to have "some transactions" so the AI picks up there are activities in the account, which is one of the promo handout criteria in my mind. Moving money around qualifies. Also they flag "calling in asking for promo" in their system and that prob feeds into their algo as well.
I have monitored that for almost the past 2 years so I am pretty certain what I said is close to 100% true. Have not beat the AI yet but at least I wont go down without a fight !

FYI ... my March 31, 4.75% promo ended .... TANG didn't offer me anything via email or over the phone, so I moved my money out. 7 days later, after my money had moved out, they sent me an email offer for 5% until October end. (shaking my head).
Chasing Tang for interest is really quite annoying. I likely won't bother to bite at any of TANG's future promos. So much for their artificial intelligence!
