Hi hwyc,
You mentioned that you declined a 5.75% extension earlier, but now got a similar offer for new money until Oct 31 (for a longer period). Was the extension you declined the one that you had to activate by May 31, 2024, with the rate good until July 31, 2024?
I was curious what happens when you do not activate an offer, e.g. do you get passed by on future offers, or do you get offered a higher rate soon after? In your case, it seems you get offered the same rate, but for a longer period?
I guess we can never be sure, what will all these "games" Tangerine plays. I guess they'd rather pay their marketing people to come up with these "schemes", and waste administrative time with the customers taking money out and putting money in, rather than rewarding loyal customers with a consistent rate throughout.

Everyone needs to get over the fact there is no more loyalty, those days are gone. No one is forced to play the Tangerine game, it's not like it's anything new. People complain when they don't get a promo, but they're quick to let everyone know when they've won the lottery.
In respect to your question, the answer is maybe, sometimes, possibly. There is no playbook with Tangerine, other than the ' Golden Rule ', empty your account out at the end of a promo.

Yes. That is the one I wager.
(1) Let the activation window expire. Go for the nominal 0.70% at Tangerine starting May 1st
(2) No guarantee to win on the June lottery, or thereafter
(3) Probably at a lower rate if/when I win (because everybody is saying BoC rate is imminently coming down)
For my plan B, I considered other lesser alternatives - Simplii, Manulife & Motive. EQ Notice is a nice surprise. But for now I am covered until Halloween.
Hope this helps.
