Great article--thank you for sharing, mgsaver1. Sounds like Rob Carrick is a regular on this site--a lurker??
I'm one of those lucky ones that got a special rate from Tanga--they offered me 2.5% until Jan 13th, 2017 without any pleading from me!
Happy Halloween:)sf-laugh

Happy Hallowe'en, dentgirl. I also got a promo but I'm not using it. I don't want to play their games. :)

If I were dressing up for Hallowe'en, my costume would be Tangerine's everday savings rate. "It's spooktaculary low!" The orange fits right in.

I think I'd add big ugly fangs to the costume, the better to bite their clients with.sf-wink
I didn't get any bonus this time around, after I'd withdrawn money for the first time in 17 years! Fortunately, there are other places to bank that are much more competitive and consistent, as Carrick notes.

I do hope Alterna Bank is able to hold fast to its concept. Credit unions OUGHT to be able to give us a substantially higher return than the banks because we own them, but few do on an ongoing basis. Alterna CU's rates are unremarkable.

In today's marketplace, I can't see keeping any significant amount of money in one of the Big 6, which includes Tang, as long as they continue to pay out dividends approaching 5% to shareholders (who believe their money is safe), and rock bottom interest rates to depositors.
