http://www.ingdirect.ca/en/lan.....e/refer25/

$25.00 each for referring a new account PLUS 2.5% interest on your existing account for 90 days. Better than locking it in @ 2% for 90 days. If only I knew someone that wanted to open an account there!

This relies on the bank turning its customers into unpaid sales staff, which I'm not into. It's even more "gimmicky" (if that's possible) than their "pre-TFSA" campaign in the fall and the "net new money" deposit promo in the spring. I'll be moving my money to Implicity Financial, paying a solid 1.90%, barring something better. It's not worth me opening YET ANOTHER new account with a new FI to take advantage of PC Financial's apparent 2% promo for a 0.1% difference for three months. (I still don't see anything on their website about it so can't confirm it even exists other than heresay on these forums.) :)

Cheers,
Doug

I've read stories about folks using promotional (free) $100 of Google AdWords to hang their ING number somewhere on their existing website and getting a significant number of successful "hits" which resulted in cold, hard cash from ING.

Not for me, but another interesting concept.

It still amounts to being turned into unpaid sales staff of the bank. You may be compensated through referral "bonus" schemes by ING but the fact remains, you're not on ING's payroll.

It's stupid "gimmickry" and I want no part of it. :)

Bottom line: this is the dumbest, most useless "promo" ever that amounts to sheer "gimmickry" and folks seeking higher yielding daily interest savings accounts & GICs should move along quickly. ;)

Thanks,
Doug
