My spouse and I have a joint savings account (A) with 6% interest rate and I am the primary account holder. My spouse has a savings account (B) with 5.75% interest rate. Account A's rate expired yesterday. If I move funds from account A to account B, are the funds eligible for 5.75% rate?

Yes, according to the usual terms of their promos, you can read your spouse's offer's t&c to confirm if you want.

Thank you, Bill. I checked the t&c but couldn't find the specifics that apply to my situation.

If it doesn't specifically exclude a spouse's sole accounts, options A and B would cover you. If you want to be absolutely certain, have your spouse transfer the funds to your joint Tangerine Chequing Account, then either of you can transfer the funds to your joint, or you can to your sole, Tangerine Savings Account. sf-cool

Cheers,
Doug

My situation is exactly the same.
I did a balance transfer today to my spouses account where she is the primary holder and the account details shows interest rate of 5.75%.
I've done this in the past with no issues.
Bear in mind the T5 interest is now attributable to spouse .

Thanks. Good to know that you had the same situation and worked out fine.

We have the same situation. It was explained at the time of the original offer that the bonus applied to all those savings accounts where the primary account holder is entitled to the bonus. If the person receiving the offer is the primary account holder on one account, but only a secondary or joint account holder on a second account, only the first account receives the bonus. The person receiving the offer must be the first name on the account in order to get the bonus. Any money transferred into the bonus account after the offer began is eligible for the bonus.

- Transfer to spouse just a few days prior your % expiry, in order to qualify for a possible new money promo for you.
- Promo works for all accounts, where THE NAME is listed first, even US$.
-Don't freak out when checking the promo rate, because promo, under 'account details', shows bonus % solely under THE NAME, although it is a joint account.
