Tangerine are offering an 18 month GIC paying 2%. A few years ago, i was able to get a quarter point added to a Tangerine GIC.
Definitely deserves its own thread. 🙂

I wonder if having a GIC will automatically disqualify one from winning the promo rate lottery

To clarify, this Tangerine offer is not just for HISA, but also for TFSA, RRSP and RIF.
To clarify my clarification, I meant to say this offer is not just for non-registered GIS, but also for TFSA, RRSP and RIF.
What I actually said is quite different, now that I've re-read it again.
Thanks for correcting my error, cgouimet.
Also, apologies to anyone whose hopes I raised by implying Tangerine offers Savings account 2% promo for 18 months.

As such, not that tempting to me vs 1yr quarterly cashable GIC at Hubert. Particularly in a Interest rate rising environment ... Â
Which makes the EQ 3-mo 2.05% offer even more attractive than Hubert's first-quarter 1.85%
Nothing good or bad about EQ. This is just an apples to apples comparison. 2.05% beats 1.85%
Edit by admin: the ensuing discussion about EQ Bank's offer was moved to another thread: https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/forum/eq-bank/eq-bank-2-05-for-a-90-day-or-180-day-gic-registered-or-non-registered/ in order to keep the current thread about Tangerine Bank.
