People come to this forum specifically for discussion on high interest savings and related subjects. Interjecting other crap just lowers the signal to noise ratio and could chase valuable members away. Let's just keep post quality up where it already is.
I wholeheartedly agree! The appeal of this Forum to me is that the topics are narrowly focused on a specific subject of interest, namely high interest rates in Canada.
Diluting that into other areas would dilute the topics I look for to manage my business affairs.
There is nothing wrong with a narrow focus Forum as it does attract, as AltaRed alludes to, a higher quality dedicated actively participating membership.
Forums should not be confused with the recent increase in popularity of social media platforms that constantly spew out a deluge of irrelevant and incohesive crap, with little or no factual basis.
I commend Peter in maintaining a tight hold on the topics for which this Forum is intended, and as long as it remains this way, I will continue as an enthusiastic supporter and participant.

I also agree.
Not much exciting about 'high' interest these days but lets keep the focus. I am here, lurking every day, but finding it more difficult to sort good information from the irrelevant or indiscernible. It may be time (for me) to hang up the accumulation chase and focus on other things.
No offence intended, it's just a thought ⬇
Try doing a little less 'luking', and a little more 'participating' & 'contributing' ... then you might feel you're more a part of this place.

Bud has a point, traffic's low (a handful of the same regular contributors), and he's thinking it might because of the lack of "controversy". It's up to Peter if he's fine with the traffic level, maybe he prefers to have "civil" tone vs higher traffic, that's his call. And those regulars seem to agree with him.

Traffic might be low but that is fine with me. I'd rather have just the sane carefully crafted postings relevant to the purpose of this forum, than a host of irrelevant missives by ranting posters, just to boost the numbers. If Bud (or whatever moniker this member chooses next) wants to participate in rants, there are doubtless numerous other sites that will accommodate this.

The correct response to OP post 1. Was no response.
Welcome Lisa. You may have misinterpreted the intent of the response by GICinvestor, which, the way I read it, was commenting on the post that originated this discussion, specifically Post #1, by the OP or Original Poster (an abbreviation often used in Forums to identify the individual who originated the discussion) rather than refer to that individual by their Forum username.
The way I interpreted GICinvestor's response was that he may have felt the provocative nature of the original post, in his view, merited no further discussion.
You are indeed welcome on the Forum, and thanks for joining us and for participating!
