Peter, I think you are the main admin guy right?
I've run forums for many years starting back in the day of Ikon Board, Invision, vBulletin etc.
I can't remember which one it was but it had a similar issue as this forum.
When one is in topic view actually reading a topic...
The only option here should be to respond to the topic and not to make a new topic.
Traditionally creating a new topic is done from the forum view not the topic view.
I actually made a topic here by accident once hitting the add topic instead of the reply topic button.
I remember I edited out that button on my forum and a couple of years later that became pretty much the norm in forum software.
I have to say I'm kind of surprised to see it still around in Simple Press.

So how does one start a new topic now?
As far as I can see, you can't.
This was a solution looking for a problem.
Someone used to have a forum where things were done differently and expected this forum to conform. As a newbie, it took this person a bit of time to understand this forum's system. It was not a problem for anyone else, and did not need to be fixed.

I think Peter was so impressed by his wealth and knowledge that he gave him control of the board?

Click on "Discussion Forum" at top left.
Choose one of the subforums below, where you want to make your new thread, such as "Site Suggestions".
Look on the upper right, below the choice of four buttons, just above the title of the subforum.
That's where it's always been.
thanks
