We should not process the attitude of "assume guilty" for any individual because nobody want to be falsely accuse of anything. Especially we cannot pin point anyone to the precision of individual level on the internet.

"A block of words" is indeed prohibiting for others to participate in conversation, but that does not mean this person shall be ejected as freedom of speech prevail in our society. Instead, we shall gave him direction to make our participation in the forum more comfortable.

I also want to ask Peter what rule have you use from the rule book you draft previously to make this decision as I question is this action against Greg just?

Thank you for your comments. This was and continues to be a difficult decision, and there is no "right" decision. I apologize to everybody that this is distracting from the real topics and purpose of this forum: to discuss Canadian banking.

For a few weeks, I pondered a couple of alternatives: open up a public discussion or message Jack / Greg / SD privately. I decided not to conduct essentially a public trial: some visitors clearly appreciated some of Greg's posts and some did not at all. This was not about taste (although some will fairly call the forum rules completely subjective), however, and a public trial would result in some personal attacks. This is actually already happening in this thread: not only should we stay away from personal attacks in general, but it is especially not fair now that I have banned the Jack / Greg / SD accounts. I should probably close this thread.

Regarding the rules, Jack / SD repeatedly broke rules 1 and 2 after repeated warnings, and I had failed by waiting too long (in fact, until Jack asked to leave) before too much damage was done: others told me they were leaving the forum due to Jack's comments and SD left big holes of empty posts throughout the threads. Greg did not break rules 1 and 2, did not ask to leave the forum, and I've removed "edit" permissions for everybody but admins / moderators after a post is 24 hours old. But he was no longer welcome on this forum by the time he created this account (rule 9 depending on how you interpret it). This could turn into a larger societal debate (I agree that we should give people direction instead of kicking them out, for example), but in my opinion and in the context of this forum: he had been given enough chances and I was not prepared to give him any more.

I have stayed away from commenting on this subject as there can be too many variables and opinions to arrive at a good conclusion.

No doubt the pattern of number of inputs, the subjects, the retaliatory comments all seem to be similar in regards to SD2013, Jack Manning, Greg Franklin and Chris Kay.

I support Peters decisions in how he manages HIS site. No doubt he has the ability to see what ISP addresses are logging on and if a VPN is being used.

The owner(s) of this forum can do as they wish and anything posted on this forum is owned by the forum. Rules can be made and interpreted as and how the owners wish. Posters and members can be dealt with as the owners wish. Posting here is an individual privilege, not a right. It is not a democracy. The threat about CRTC is so ridiculous and hilarious, I have yet to stop rolling my eyes.

Owning, administering and moderating this (and any) forum can be a PITA. At most, it is a generous public service. Peter has been especially gracious and patient. Thank you.

Regarding the rules, .

I sat down and finally read the rules of this forum, took all of 2 minutes. sf-laugh

Peter, while you sort this out, just wanted to say I really enjoy reading this forum, and I am happy
you are providing this forum for us.

Let's just deal with the jerks and get on with it, looks like Canada is in for some interesting times.

I concur. Thanx for your work at keeping this forum available and the posters for the invaluable info. I don't think I would have the patience. There is much to be learned here. Mucho appreciado!!

I feel much the same way. Although, I am only a newbie on this particular forum so I can't speak to previous events. I did find that he posted some useful nuggets of information (wheat in the chaff ?) but anyone that resorts to threats (especially ludicrous ones) should feel free to bugger off and stay buggered off.

Thank you to the forum owner and runners/moderators for the valuable service of this forum. I have already learned a few things from this site and benefited both in terms of increased knowledge and finances.

Cheers.
