In the "News" section in the sidebar and the News archive, I typically limit this to rate changes on the main savings account and TFSAs, as well as major product or bank announcements. I also try to track promos on the Promotions page.
Is there any interest in a listing of GIC changes, such as this change? Or is it enough for someone to just track the latest forum posts? If there's interest for a general listing, I'd have to think of something sustainable and possibly crowd-generated. (The problem is that such a list is too much for me to maintain.)

Personally, I'm not feeling the need.
With savings accounts, where money can be very fluid, a chart is really helpful. However, for GICs, which I don't buy often, I always want to check for myself what the rates are anyway. Many FIs have rate "specials" with some regularity, and these don't show up on charts, especially if they are for odd-numbered months, e.g. 15 months. I usually buy when there are rate specials, as those are the best deals. "Promos" section can draw attention to those, although I might consider converting them to a topic in the forum - if people can be disciplined enough to open a new thread for each promo. Otherwise, it will be chaos - so that they would be more obvious.

It would be very useful to have a thread with all current GIC promos or "specials", especially those up to 2-year terms (this site is aimed at people who are seeking high rates for funds they want to keep relatively liquid). As Loonie notes, often these specials involve off-periods (e.g. 18 months) so they're not widely known about. Anyone can contribute any specials they run across. Plus from what I can see this information is not aggregated in one place anywhere else online - the Globe, National Post, etc listings have all institutions with their regular rates (no need to duplicate that here) but not the promos, at least not all of them. So this feature might attract some more eyes to this site.
In my view, one thread would be best, at least to start. It's all in one place, and it's relatively easy to read the latest entries when one is in the market for a GIC.

Count me in as a yes as well.
I find the GIC updates people post on this site to be more timely and comprehensive than most other places on the internet. So, making them easy to find and update would be very helpful. How you best go about organizing that is another question but Bill is probably right that you start with one thread and see how it grows.
It might also broaden the appeal of this site beyond people just interested in hISA as well. IF that is of appeal to the ownership.

I would limit it to a 'standing' thread or sub-forum where people could post GIC rate updates. For an Administrator to try and keep a Promos or News section updated seems way over the top. Let the membership do the work. It will either attract interest with members posting... or it will go stale. IOW, leave success or failure up to the members.

I'd suggest setting up a link or two to other established GIC rate tables (such as the globe or financial post) in the rate comparison tab for convenience. I would not reinvent the wheel.
This is the best idea of all, because rates are updated daily and if there happens to be a special promotion, Forum member inevitably post a notification alerting the Forum.

I agree but take note all 4 of the above are missing Implicity and ??
And how could we advise others of any of the advance notices?

I used to have that link as one of my resources, but several months ago was unable to access the table. I get the message :
Sorry, data currently unavailable.
Does access require a subscription to Financial Post?

I assume I was not supposed to post increases or notice of upcoming GIC changes?? I have never used the side bar options and go for the big menu items. I have always posted GIC changes in the appropriate FI forum thinking that only those members would read "if" they used that FI or wanted to be more informed. It is this web site that led me to using a few of these FI's for both HISA and the obviously higher and much more competitive GIC rates. Have always wondered why there is not a GIC table for at least what FI's are listed here. And have always thought the reason is.....this site is for HISA and not GICs. And I understand that. While lots of suggestions here, keep in mind it appears many of the GIC table links are not conclusive and you would have to use more than one table or just link to the specific FI. While I know I could develop an Excel sheet for the FI's listed here only with a memo line for upcoming changes (mainly Oaken) I don't think I could guarantee being "on top of it"! So what about a link on here that gives specific links to all the FI's listed here for their current rates? I would suggest to drop Coast Capital though.
Ps. No maintenance required.

If there was another column in the COMPARISON CHART titled ie. GIC rates with a link to the FI rate page....would that not be a start? And if approved....it I knew how to do it....i would assist.
Ps. Should not focus only on the FI's that are listed in the Profiles or Forum listings? Just noticed they don't match as Ally is still listed.
Sorry, to clarify: please continue to post any GIC updates you deem relevant. I was privately asked whether there was a way to surface such updates in a consolidated list, to capitalize on the wisdom / filtering already done by forum members. That is -- to augment the posting that's already being done. Thus, I decided to bring this question to the community.
It seems like the existing "GIC Discussions" sub-forum or maybe an additional "GIC Updates" sub-forum (which we used to have) is sufficient for now.

Hi Peter,
I posted this one today: https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/forum/meridian-credit-union/fall-deposit-campaign-2017-meridian-cu-2-75-90-day-gic/#p24924
Is this what you were expecting us to do when an interesting GIC comes up ?
