Loonie, for some reason I thought Simplii was PC and not CIBC, but yup yer right....AND just as Tangerine is an offshoot of Scotia?

I can understand your confusion. Simplii is the new name for PC's banking function. Simplii is a brand, if you will, like Tide is a brand of Procter and Gamble.

Tangerine and Scotia are also linked, but the arrangement is a little different. Tangerine and Scotia are separately insured by DIC, whereas Simplii and CIBC are only insured once, together. Somebody else undoubtedly understands this arrangement better than I.

The distinction between Simplii/CIBC and Tangerine/BNS has been explained clearly here before, most recently in post #56 by rfdm4g4g9 in the thread Simplii Financial Extends Its Promo..............
