In my view, TransUnion is out of control. They take no responsibility for accuracy in their files. It's always up to the innocent consumer to attempt to set them straight while they continue to hold all the cards.

They recently claimed that I lived at a branch of the TD bank. I'm not kidding. I was obliged, by them, to provide documentation that I still live at the same address where I've been since before their records seem to start. The fact that I couldn't live at the bank even if I wanted to was irrelevant to them even though they knew it was the bank's address. If I could though, I think I'd choose the Vault Suite! I imagine it comes in a fashionable shade of gray, with green highlights.
We need better regulation of this industry as they are obviously incapable of doing it themselves and the FIs are wedded to their verdicts.

Unbelievable sf-surprised

Loonie ... I'm guessing CBC Marketplace might be interested in that story ❗

Good suggestion, Dean, but I just can't bear that kind of publicity. I had a chance to be on TV a few years ago concerning some research I'd done (unrelated to finance) but turned it down.

There might be others who are willing to share their experiences though.

Yea TransUnion had some errors in my file too. My first name on file was my first and middle name smooshed together. I had to send them a photo of my ID to correct it.

But Saven can't verify my identity even after I corrected it with TransUnion.

Matching name, address, and date of birth on an Equifax or TransUnion record is not enough. FINTRAC also requires that the record be started at least three years ago and have at least two lenders for the record alone to verify identity.

It will be a few years before CH's record meets the three-year requirement. CH will need to eventually apply for a credit card or loan from another lender to meet the two-lender requirement.

I have found errors in my TransUnion and Equifax records, but in each case it was clearly due to an attempt to defraud via creating new credit cards.

I think you are better off NOT joining Saven. They are currently holding my mature GICs in my account because I was doing the transfers to another institution. Utter nonsense. Scenario : I had 4 GICs maturing on 4 different dates. So if I start to transfer 1 they are holding back the other. I don't have words to describe this .......
And this is besides the 5 days to transfer from Saven to another FI through Push method.
