The special GIC rates offered to me are only visible in after I sign into online banking and try to purchase a GIC.
The rates are not visible in the public areas of the RBC Royal Bank web site. For example, the special 5-year non-redeemable GIC rate is 4.85% and not 5.00% in the public GIC Rates page of the RBC Royal Bank site.

I did not know about these special rates being available only when you go to purchase.
Mine are the Same as Norman1 at this time.
Given that you have to put in a $ amount FIRST I wonder if rates go up with higher $s - It will only accept how much I have available at Royal to transfer, and since that's not near 6 figures...it just leaves me wondering.
Also I did not get an 'offer' from Royal - so in this case I guess I have not been targeted for the better offer dentgal got.
But good to know.

I had the same thought! I have a feeling that it matters -- otherwise why did they set it up that way? I'm not going to transfer 6-figures to RBC to test this, but if anyone here has that much with them, could you give a spin and see if you get different rates by pledging to buy $10k vs $100k?
