Their TFSA rate is currently 3.00%. Given that their high interest savings account rate is traditionally among the highest, this might not actually be a promotional rate. But of course no one knows for sure 🙂

I still won't use Peoples Trust Company. While they're a CDIC member, they're just too small and dodgy in my opinion. I wouldn't want to have to deal with the hassle. Plus, their refusal to offer Internet/Telephone Banking and the explanation(s) given simply don't wash. I'd much rather go with ResMor Trust's Ally product and Canadian Western Bank's Canadian Direct offering.

Thanks anyway for the information, though, Peter. 🙂

Cheers,
Doug

you should use Peoples Trust, I was using Canadian Direct , they promised me they would have internet banking, by 2010 , in September 2009, still dont, their explanation, was well they didnt have one, now its spring 2010,
You may as well get the extra 0.10%
for me thats an extra 11.33 a month
plus PT offers 5 free transactions per month at 1.50 each after
CDF is only 1 free per month at 2.50 each after

for me as a customer, the only thing I can do is go with the highest rate in Canada, until everyones starts doing this, there will still be low rates, people get cozy with their banks, not me, .05 I will change banks. I also us CTF for tfsa, 3.15%, the day they lower, im gone, thats the only thing anyone can do.
but as long as when i go to bed, I know i cant do any better with my savings im happy:smile:

Hi Jude,

I've been with Peoples Trust for a while now and have nothing but good things to say about them. Any time I have had a question, or a request, they get back to me the same day, and I can always talk to a 'real person' if I choose.

I'm very happy with them so far. I hope you will be too.
