peoples trust dropped interest rates on locked in 1-5years gics rrsp and tax free January 4 2017. it did not take long.

Yeah, yesterday, two hours before I did my TFSA. I called them the day before for instructions and of course not a word.

Me too, was just about to transfer in a large sum to purchase TFSAs and RRSPs for self and spouse, had called to request some info, no mention rates were dropping. At least Oaken gives a month's notice! Note: they also lowered rates on nonregistered GICs. I guess these smaller banks cannot handle any spike in deposits. The rates everywhere are so poor now, I am not sure what to do. Spend it, perhaps. Then I'll have to change my name to Spender-Mom.

Peoples Trust seems to traditionally have a rate drop in January. I've noticed it a couple of years. They don't seem to have dropped the TFSA savings account.
