Good news but the 5 year GIC's are lagging the long term corporate bonds which are now at all time highs for the last 22 years. Almost the widest spread in all of history between 5, 7 and 10 year GIC's and long term corporate bond yields.

We don't cover short-term GIC(s) very often because it is not worth it. However, things may be different for the next while.

Peoples new rate ➡ 5% for 180-days, 5.25% for 270-days

Peoples just happily increased my 2-year rate to 5.7%. And no wait on the phone.

I was thinking about you on that one. I think your investment was only a couple of days ahead of the rate increase. Good on ya!

And thanks to everyone here for all the tip-offs over the years! I hope I've helped some of you, too.sf-embarassed
