New GIC interest rates:

1 year 2.60%
2 years 2.70%
5 years 2.80%

Good experience dealing with them.

Yeah, Stephen (Nehpets) really likes them, and has dealt with them in the past. Those are among the top GIC rates, so they're back being competitive again. sf-cool

Also, Omnia Direct is one of the CU divisions in Ontario that accepts out of province residents despite their signup form saying they are limited to Ontario only. Multiple residents from Alberta have had no problems opening memberships with them. No questions asked. In one case, the Omnia Direct representative told the customer they welcome out of province residents, but just don't advertise it.

On that basis, I would have no problem with adding Omnia Direct to the GIC chart as they now top the GIC chart leaderboard. Peter, can you create a profile page for and add Omnia Direct to the GIC chart?

Cheers,
Doug

Yes, my experience with Omnia has been very positive, with helpful and knowledgeable CSR's. Sometimes the phone is answered by one of the executive personnel as well.

Omnia online only services are bare bones, and I do not believe they offer registered GIC's as opposed to their parent WFCU Credit Union

Account opening procedure:

Pre-printed cheque with the same name(s) that were entered on the application.
Dated with current date.
Pay to the order of 'your own name'.
Amount inputted in the application that you want to invest.
Reference the account number provided to you.
Sign the cheque.
Ensure cheque is issued by a Canadian financial institution.

They use this information to EFT transfer matured funds back to that FI, or any other FI of your choice.

Stephen

5 yr seems a very long time. Time itself to me is an increasingly precious commodity.

3yr@2.8% or 5yr@3% anyone have an opinion would it be a mistake to do the 3yr?
