That is certainly the best 2 year GIC rate at a Credit Union from what I can see. The exceptions are the GIC brokers

currently 2 yr is 5.75%. and 6-month is 6%. 1 yrs is only 5.9%.

Saven (also a CU) offers 6% for 1 yr but only 5.5% for 2 yrs. TFSA eligible.

So far, only Oaken provides 6% for 12, 18 or 24 months, and Motive 6% for 12 to 35 months. These are only CDIC insured (i.e., not CUs).

I don't think for long at all. Both Windsor and Alberta have a lot of larger commercial loans, which is driving the demand for longer-term GICs.

I don't agree with it, but I accept the widespread consensus that the BoC is done with rate hikes and they will start falling around the end of next year.

There are too many summer children who think that a 6% mortgage rate is astronomically high. They do not understand, and do not care, about the long-term impact, and have absolutely no responsibility whatsoever to future generations (including their kids).
