I think many of us could see that consolidation coming. Just like I think EQ will do some consolidation between Concentra with Equitable entities. No big reason in my view for the Feds to disallow it as it strengthens the new guys competing against the big 6 (albeit a somewhat different customer base).

If it improves their online experience it will be a plus. Had opened the new TFSA savings account, had funds deposited into it, today tried to buy a GIC to be funded from it but the drop down menu only showed "savings" I continued hoping that the choice of savings would include the new TFSA one but right to the end it didn't. I had to cancel. Called the CS who ran into a new issue: not being able to see my homepage so was not able to advise on which of the 2: home trust or home bank the GIC should be under. info is important for CDIC cover. waste of time. This is an ongoing issue with Oaken. They should model EQ's excellent website it is very smart & easy.

I could actually see them going the other way, shutting down Oaken Financial and moving strictly to a brokered deposits model.

Cheers,
Doug
