Rec'd ours in Toronto Friday. Was sent out Dec 8 according to external label. It may take a little longer depending on your location or if mailed later.

We have bought a new GIC at least once a year from Oaken. I wonder if that is the criterion.

Got our box this morning. Nice gesture by Oaken. Other companies could learn from them.

We got a chocolate box from Oaken yesterday as well (GTA). We have two full GICs with them.

DW also got a birthday card in the mail from them on Thursday. $5 McCafe card inside and it was actually signed by three Oaken employees ! (I assume the marketing department)

Considering the vast sums the regular banks spend on non-stop advertising of dubious value I must say that Oakens approach seems better to me. Probably not scaleable to the size of a Royal Bank but it certainly makes Oaken stand out against the other outfits their size.

Every year for the last few years I have been sent the holiday chocolate from Oaken. Nothing yet this year. But then it takes regular mail two weeks anywhere in Canada to get to Victoria.

I did get a nice phone call from them yesterday. When I saw Home Trust light up on my incoming call......I thought wow, maybe getting something special because I am such a GREAT client!!.....But no, they just wanted to give me a heads up to say that I would be receiving a letter as to opening an online savings account with them and just to ignore it.

Maybe the chocolate soon though.............sf-smile

Sorry to hear ... somebody must have put you on the 'Naughty List'. sf-frown

Seriously though, I think it's rather silly. Instead of chocolates, I'm sure Most of us would Much Prefer higher GIC interest rates ... No ❓❗

Sorry ... couldn't resist. sf-wink

Do you need a GIC to be eligible for this gift? I just opened a business savings account with a reasonable sum just under cdic limits and got nothing. I am just curious.

This year, I transferred out one of my registered GICs from Oaken due to their lack of registered savings accounts, but i also bought a new non-registered one with less money in it.

Back when I had significant six figures at TD, I used to get a cheap birthday card, but no gifts; and lots of annoying marketing calls.sf-yell

But it's true that "money talks". After I moved out the money, they stopped talkingsf-laugh. And I have more money!

Not sure. All we have ever had with Oaken is GICs. I will say they do seem a little "behind" some years when we have/haven't had money with them on whether we got anything or not. So, you might get it next year because you didn't make it on their internal marketing list on time this year.

Mind you, I personally haven't ever gotten diddly from Oaken. It's always addressed to DW and I sure haven't gotten anything on my birthday either (the fact of which delights SWMBO)

Thanks for your thoughts. I was just curious as to why I may be missing out. Not the end of the world. I also funded the account in mid Nov.

Nobody is commenting what kind of chocolates they receive???
Are they made by reputable company (Lindt, Milka, etc.), organic or Dollarama variety, cheap 99% sugar variety?

Oaken Financial has been mean to me so I divested from Oaken several years ago.

I have pretty high end taste in chocolate and these are decent. I would say Lindt quality. A mix of dark and milk. I only eat dark, my hubby said the milk were a tad on the sweet side, but definitely not dollar store crap.

Nothing for me yet and I have 3 GICs with them. On the dark side of the Capital region. Will see how it goes.

I was hoping that they would arrive.
Shockingly, it took me 2 days to finish the box, instead of scarfing them all down the same night!
