No, just a card with wildflower seeds embedded.
Already the new owners are cutting?
Bring back the chocolates, Oaken!

Received a card yesterday. They made a donation to the Food Banks which I actually prefer instead of them spending on chocolates and postage.

Among our charitable donations, we gave $500 to FoodShare this year. They help people of limited means to be able to eat healthy meals and be more independent as well as building community bonds, which is good for mental health.
I hope others here are also doing their part to help.

We also give Christmas presents to friends, neighbours and family. I imagine Home Capital (Oaken) could afford to continue to do the same for its customers, without whom they would have no wealth.

Happy holidays to all!

They`ve probably been put on notice by their soon-to-be new owner, Stephen Smith, to tighten the purse strings. sf-cool

Cheers,

Like Barb, I've never gotten any gifts from Oaken. But I don't do christmas. I prefer to spoil my friends on their birthdays, rather than bury them in the rush of desperation gifts, often chosen without much thought.

Maybe they only sent them out to those who met a certain minimum balance. You had to earn your chocolates. sf-cry

I'm maxed out at Oaken save for the interest I expect to earn.

Well I really think they only send or “sent” those chocolates to people with current large gic amounts. Ive had no love for large savings account balances for the last 2.5 years. They do have one of the best business savings account rates that i know of so i cant complain.

RedFlagDeals users are reporting having called Oaken Financial to ask about the Christmas cards and chocolates. Oaken reportedly told them they didn't see value in that, and would instead make an equivalent donation to local food banks this year.

Cheers,
Doug

They should probably publicize that decision. It would make them look better.

I think the best choice would be for businesses to provide the best service and products possible and afford customers the choice of what to do with their money vs taking credit for "donations" on our behalf which they can write off while they tout what a socially responsible member of society they are sf-smile
