I received an email notice from Oaken (Home Trust) early this morning (sent @ 6:03am), advising me that my online Oaken accounts had been logged into. At that time, I was sound asleep in bed.
When I checked my emails this morning (@ ~9am) and I read Oaken's email notice, I just about had a Heart Attack ❗❗
Fast as I could, I logged into my Oaken accounts (expecting the worst), but to my surprise I found Nothing amiss! No money had been withdrawn, my password had Not been changed, the linked external accounts had Not been changed, etc., etc. ... nothing had been taken, or changed, and no activity had occurred.
Yes of course, I changed my password right away.
So now I'm asking myself ... "Why would someone hack into my Oaken accounts, and then do Nothing?!", and ... "Was that email notice from Oaken, Bogus (sent in error) ?
What am I missing ... what say you ?

The e-mail could have been fake. Scammer sent it hoping you would click on a link in the e-mail to a fake look-alike Oaken site and enter your password there.
Someone will need to examine the SMTP header lines of the message to determine if the e-mail was actually sent by Oaken, through one if its mail servers, instead of sent by someone else who put Oaken's e-mail address in the From field.

Update . . .
There's No link in that email they sent me ... and it looks legit.
I checked ... it's the Exact same email notice they always send when I log in.
The mystery remains . . .

P.S.
I sent Oaken an email, asking for an explanation.
But I don't expect to hear back from them, until
Monday or Tuesday.

Dean, you may have received the emails at 6:30am, but double check the body of the email itself to see when Oaken says you accessed your account.
I received a flurry of emails from Oaken late last night/early this morning alerting me to logins. But they were all legitimate and made in the last few days.
Typically, Oaken sends out a "your account has been accessed" email when you log in (or very shortly after). That's the whole point of that push notification system.
But it looks like their system was constipated for a few days, and had a breakthrough early this morning.

I had same happen a few weeks ago. Emails early, like 4am on Saturday morning. I immediately changed my passwords and screwed one up. It was a Saturday and I called and much to my surprise, some one was there. I got it all fixed up.
BUT in fully reading the emails that I am used to receiving within in minutes of logging in, I read the emails in FULL and the logins where on the Thursday before .... dates and times would then be correct as I do my banking on Thursdays and it WAS me!
I told the guy on Saturday why I changed passwords and asked why there was such a delay or duplicate in sending.

I got similar notices from Oaken, and although they came in at odd hours, the actual time they notify me my account was accessed corresponds with my recollection of having been online in my account, once the time difference between their server and my location in BC is taken into account.
It does seem like Oaken's capacity to quickly issue these alerts has degraded, and they now appear with a considerable lag. Mildly annoying, but perhaps nothing too serious?

I hope it's temporary...the lag shouldn't exist. The point of the alerts is to deliver them in real-time, not hours or days later. For example, Meridian does this as well and the emails (as well as texts) are received within seconds of logging in.
First they stop sending chocolates, and now this. What's next???

Got one too @ 10:07 ON time. In the body, "You logged into Digital Banking on 2023/11/24 06:12:12." two days ago. Delayed reaction ...

I'll take 6% GICs over stale chocolates any day.
All I want for Christmas is for Oaken to keep offering their 6% GICs!

Hey, those chocolates were actually pretty good.
You can get more than 6% on a 1, 2 or even 3-year GIC through a broker.
Motive Financial (which I don't recommend but facts are facts) is also offering 6% on a 1 year, 18 month, and 2 year GICs. The offer is supposed to be available until the end of January, I believe.
Tandia (ON credit union) is also offering 5.75% on a 18-month GIC, and I think Motor City (another ON credit union) is offering something similar.

There is also another possibility: if Oaken sends too many emails, they could have been throttled on incoming mail servers. The servers that belong to your ISPs/email providers.
It is also possible the sudden spike in number of emails, which could happen for whatever reason, coming from Oaken triggered anti-spam response.
That something Oaken can't change or fix quickly. The quota will be applied and emails delayed, and that is out of Oaken control. This is normal anti-spam approach.
If this is the case, eventually incoming mail servers may increase quota, also Oaken could negotiate it.

This is strange. I never get any notifications from Oaken about having logged in. Perhaps something needs to be turned on in my settings? Anyone else like me? Hubert used to send them all the time (seem to have stopped, actually). I am puzzled.
