Not to worry . . .

Alexandre may have been late to pull the trigger this time,
but I for one ... needed the reminder.

Thanks sf-smile

12-18mth from now kind of the "bitter" spot when rates will/may start coming down. Personally I prefer the 1y at 5.25 vs the 18mth at 5.39. It is a tough play...

Despite my adventures with Oaken's early January IT meltdown, and a $50,000 transfer disappearing for a couple of weeks, I have come back for this promotional GIC , this time for half my previous investment. We'll see what happens. Hopefully, it will go smoother this time.

Give it time to settle, spouse bought a GIC there recently and it took about 4 - 5 business days before it showed as leaving her savings account and showing the new GIC when she logged in despite her getting the confirming email right after placing the order.

BEWARE ❗❗

From my perspective (& account) the Oaken IT Dept. 'Gong Show'
is still in play. sf-confused

I figure that if they managed to find $50,000 of my funds, a couple of weeks after transferring them from my credit union, they will be able to find half that amount eventually, maybe even sooner this time around.

Has anyone who opened a GIC with this promo, seen it appear in their accounts?
I did one on the 28th, so confirmation said 30th (next business day) which is fine. But how long does Oaken usually take?

Opened in person, was visible in account same day. They did say they are very backed up with processing for this promotion, and that it was interest in opening online accounts that caused their website issues this week.

I opened an 18 month GIC at 5.39% last Saturday on the phone. It was dated Jan. 30. Confirmation of investment pdf has appeared in my Oaken Digital folder on Feb. 2, I think. I was not able to log in and download it until Feb. 3 due to "Scheduled maintenance".
