I have been using this forum for quite some time before joining. What prompted me to join was the post by Norman1 - post 11 to Reit taxation - where the link to an explanation of ROC was provided. This was valuable information to me and even though I am an RBC Dominion Securites client I have never seen a copy of the Navigator or had a clearer explanation of ROC.
I am also a CIBC client since I first had a bank account. I have been an Oaken client since 2014 and a WealthONE client since 2016. I started to follow this forum more in 2019 when Laurentian Bank had the 3.30% offer; of which I took advantage. This forum was mentioned in the Globe&Mail. I find the interest rate comparisons and the news about special offers valuable. I am trying to do better than the terrible interest rates offered by many financial institutions.
I like Oaken. Clear, understandable rates and often a rate leader. I agree with others that Oaken should have a savings account inside its TFSA. I asked for that when I first set up my TFSA with them. It is the only TFSA I have, so this lack was not a deal breaker for me. I lived through the Oaken credit crisis. I generally keep within the CDIC limit to avoid credit worries.
I use other banks featured in this forum and am happy to live with their quirks when I can get a deal I like.
Thank you to Norman1 and the many others who take the time to share information and ideas.

Welcome RAV4guy.
Most of us here post opinions. Norman as you have noted, he always posts true facts. A long long time ago, i uploaded a tax page i found on the web in response to question someone on this forum asked. NORMAN knew there was more information on the reverse side of the page i posted. I honestly didn't know there was a reverse side and i was very impressed he did.
