I was trying to use INTERAC e-Transfer to email money out of my People's Trust saving account. Its web site shows the e-Transfer function that you can set up email recipient and etc and proceed to enter $$$ amount to send. After you confirm to send money you get an error message code. I called the bank and was told that I have to transfer money to external bank Tangerine to do it from there.

Peoples e-Savings Account doesn't mention Interac e-Transfers as part of the product.

Hubert Financial does not offer Interac e-Transfers from its savings account.

I'm sure Sunova CU, the financial institution behind Hubert, has the infrastructure for Interac e-Transfers. But, e-Transfers isn't a feature offered of the Hubert products.

Thanks Norman. It's eye-opening that Interac e-Transfer is not a standard banking feature. I suggested to People's Trust' staff better remove its dummy e-Transfer feature from its web site so to save both party's time.

True both Peoples Bank and Peoples Trust don't offer Interac eTransfer even though it shows up their menus. It is strange they can't configure the software to hide it.

I wonder if the Sunova (Hubert), Access (Accelerate) and Noventis credit unions merger will change that at some point for Hubert.

It is too early to tell what the Hubert savings account will become after the merger in July. I don't think that has been decided yet. The three credit unions may not be able to discuss and share product details until they have actually merged.

Three competitors sharing detailed internal marketing and product information could be interpreted as collusion by the Competition Bureau.

The Accelerate Savings Account does include Interac e-Transfers. $1 each to send plus $1/month for the months any e-Transfers are sent. Interest is a lower 1.1% instead of 1.25%. Only one free withdrawal or debit per month.

The cost of Interac e-transfers makes them unattractive no most users who don't pay account fees that include them.

I agree. The $1/each Interac e-transfer plus $1/month for months with e-transfers is disingenuous. Account pays 1.1% but claws it back.

Questrade does something similar with their mutual fund trailer fee rebate. They offer to pass through to you any trailer fees they receive from your mutual funds. sf-smilesf-smile However, there is a $29.95/month processing fee to do so.sf-surprised
